This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing 404 errors when trying to access category links in the secondary language (French), despite these links working correctly in English.
Solution:
1. We recommended updating all WPML plugins by navigating to Plugins → Add New Plugin in the WordPress admin, clicking on the Commercial tab, and then clicking the Check for updates button. After updating, the issue persisted.
2. We then suggested re-saving permalinks by going to Settings → Permalinks and clicking the Save Changes button without altering any settings. This step did not resolve the issue.
3. Next, we checked the translation setup for product categories. We advised the client to go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation, select Product Categories from the dropdown menu, and ensure all fields under the Label section were filled out, especially the Slug. Despite these efforts, the 404 error persisted.
4. Given the ongoing issues, we escalated the matter for further investigation by our support specialists.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.
