This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues with changing the translation engine in WPML from Deepl to Google and not seeing any changes in the translated content, or if you're curious about how WPML handles having both Google and Deepl translation engines enabled at the same time, we have some guidance for you.
Solution:
For the first issue, ensure that you have completely deleted the previous translation from both the list where the page/post translation appears and from the trash. We have a guide on how to properly delete a translation: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-delete-the-translation-of-a-page/. It's possible that the translation was not fully removed before resending the translation job with the new translation engine selection.

For the second question regarding the use of both Google and Deepl translation engines simultaneously, we have created a separate support ticket to address this query: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-how-does-this-work-with-two-engines-enabled.

Please note that the solution provided might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please don't hesitate to open a new support ticket with us.

Hello!
First question: We wanted to test translations from different sources. Initially, we enabled the translation from Deepl. We changed the engine to Google and translated the same page again. But the translation was the same, without a single change. Why did this happen and how can we switch to Google translation?
Second question: The settings for selecting translation engines allow you to enable both Google and Deepl at the same time. How does this work with two engines enabled?

Hi there.

I will answer the first question here and I am creating a new ticket at the URL below for the other question:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-how-does-this-work-with-two-engines-enabled

I am not sure what was the exact procedure that was being followed but first, you need to make sure that the translated content has been fully deleted from both the list where that page/post translation was showing up and also from the trash.

It is explained here how a translation can be deleted correctly:
https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-delete-the-translation-of-a-page/

Probably, somehow, the translation was not fully removed first, before RE-sending the translation job again, with the new translation engine selection.

I hope that you will find this information helpful. 🙂
