This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing an issue where the Elementor interface is gradually being translated into Dutch, despite setting the admin language to English UK. You have tried following instructions from a previous forum post but found no success.
Solution:
This behavior is typical as Elementor is a front-end editor and adheres to the language of the page rather than the admin language. If this issue is a significant concern, we recommend translating Elementor content using the WPML Advanced Translation Editor. You can find more information and guidance here: WPML Advanced Translation Editor Documentation.
Please note that the workaround you mentioned might be outdated due to several changes in WordPress, such as converting translations to PHP files. Therefore, it might not be effective as of mid-2024.

If this solution does not apply to your situation, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket with us for further assistance at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to keep the Elementor interface in English UK, but it is slowly being translated into Dutch. I have followed the instructions from this article: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/elementor-editor-interface-with-wpml/, but it did not help.

Symptoms:
The Elementor interface is being translated into Dutch, even though the admin language is set to English UK.

Questions:
How can I prevent the Elementor interface from being translated into Dutch?
Why is the Elementor interface changing language despite the admin language setting?

Hi,

This behavior is expected since Elementor is a front-end editor and follows the language of the page rather than the admin (user) language.

If this is a blocker for you, we recommend translating Elementor content using the WPML Advanced Translation Editor:

The workaround mentioned in your linked ticket is quite outdated, and WordPress has undergone several changes since then (e.g., converting translations to PHP files). As a result, I cannot confirm whether it still works as of mid-2024. Have you tried following those exact steps?

At this time, there is no alternative solution or workaround, as this behavior is expected.

Best regards,
Marcel

Dear Marcel,

Many thanks for your reply.

IN regards to the article you sent me it does show how to translate the interface of WPML, WPML is doing it automatically i suppose there is a way to reverse it. I suppose the system generates an mo file or something like that to save its translation, probably that way we can remove the translations that have been done to the interface.

The logic of the decision to base the interface of the developer on the site's langue is flawed and needs to be revisited, i am hereby submitting a request to base it on the language of the admin.

Hi,

Elementor is a frontend page builder and follows the configured language of the page rather than the admin language. This behavior has been part of Elementor’s core functionality for many years and is also seen in other page builders like Divi. It’s not something we can control or override.

Best regards,
Marcel
