This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed advice on switching a site from development to live on a different domain, and how to handle WPML registration in this scenario.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this, we recommend you follow these steps to switch your WPML registration to a new domain:
1. Add the new domain and copy the newly generated key.
2. In your website's admin panel, go to Plugins > Add New > Commercial Tab and click on "Unregister WPML from this site".
3. Register the website again with the key you copied in step #1.

This solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If this does not resolve your issue, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hey there,

In this case, it's best to create a new key for the new domain and re-register it:

1. Add the new domain and copy the newly generated key;
2. In your website's admin panel, go to Plugins > Add New > Commercial Tab and click on "Unregister WPML from this site";
3. Register the website again, with the key you copied in step #1;

That should do the trick. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Lucas,

I assume that my WPML translations which are currently related to under the site under development will be migrated to the new address.

So the steps are:

1- migrate the site to the new address
2- follow your instructions in the previous message ?

Thanks

Hey there 🙂

Your translations are connected to the website they were created in, like any other website information. Make sure to have a website backup and do as you said (migrate and re-register). Let me know if it works this way.

Hi Lucas,

I will let you know soon, as I'm doing the migration today.
For the review, I need to consider if I'm ready to recommend WPML as I have constant problems with it.
