URL slug for translated content homepage points to non-canonical URL

pedroD-14	Background of the issue: I am trying to ensure that the URL slug generated for the HREFLANG points to the correct canonical URL. I noticed that the URLs generated by RankMath in the XML sitemap at hidden link point correctly to the Portuguese homepage hidden link, but the HREFLANG generated URLs incorrectly point to hidden link. The website is set to have WordPress Pages as the homepages for each language. Symptoms: The HREFLANG generated URLs incorrectly point to hidden link instead of the expected hidden link. Questions: Why does the HREFLANG URL point to a non-canonical URL? How can I ensure the HREFLANG URL points to the correct canonical URL?
