Background of the issue:
I'm trying to translate my WooCommerce product variations using WPML. There is a lock button preventing the translations, and I have reviewed several articles but haven't resolved the issue. We are working with a tight deadline.

Symptoms:
WooCommerce variations are not translated, and there is a lock icon preventing the translations.

Questions:
Could you please help me to remove the lock icon?

The fact that the swatches are not displayed as expected on your site might be compatibility issue between different plugins.

1) Disable any additional plugins that are not related to WooCommerce, Variation Swatches, WPML and our add-ons.

2) If the problem goes away, start reactivating the plugins one by one, or activate them in small groups. This way, check where the problem reoccurs to reveal the plugin that is causing the problem.

3) If this has not clarified the cause of the problem, please switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-One to see if the problem might be theme related.

Once we have identified the cause, we can then try to replicate the problem and then escalate it internally. In this case, I provide a test site with WPML.

IMPORTANT:
If you use custom attributes that are assigned directly on the products, then you can only translate them using the WPML Translation Editor as translation method.

If you use the WordPress Editor to translate the product, then you should use global attributes which are created at Products > Attributes.

I still see a lock icon. My content was translated using the WordPress editor. Is it possible to translate only this part in the WPML editor while using the WordPress editor for other sections?

Also, my attributes are not global.

Also, I disabled the other plugin because it didn't work.

At the end of the day, how can I use string translation? I couldn't find it when I encountered 10k strings in WooCommerce, and none of them worked.

Additionally, I checked the WPML editor, and it doesn't allow me to translate the individual attributes within each product. I do not use global attributes. Please help me find a way to translate them.

Finally, if none of these options work, could you please show me a way to securely migrate all local attributes and their values to global attributes?

All I need is a way to translate my custom attributes. I'm afraid we may not be able to change them to global attributes since these are variable products.

I fixed the issue by disabling WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency. I really don't need this since I am translating everything manually. Thanks.
