This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to translate with the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) from WPML and encounter issues where you cannot handle or delete mentioned code in the editor. The editor prompts you to save all sentences before completing the translation, which isn't possible.
Solution:
We logged into your site and switched the ATE to use the previous version (Gen2 instead of Gen3). Here are the steps we took:
- For a blog post, we changed the translation setting from the WordPress editor to the WPML translation editor. This adjustment allowed the segments to be correctly split and translated.
- For a form marked as "Pending review," we approved the translation, made a minor edit to the original form (like adding a space at the end of the title), and saved it. Then, we edited the translation to see the correction and saved it.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I'm trying to translate with the Advanced Translation Editor from WPML on my site hidden link.

Symptoms:
I get stuck on several pages where there is mentioned code , which I can't take over or delete. The editor keeps saying I should save all sentences before completing the translation, which isn't possible.

Questions:
How can I handle the code in the Advanced Translation Editor?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum.

As a quick workaround could you please try the following:
- Open the translation using our Advanced Translation Editor (ATE)
- In the top right corner click on the "Settings" icon
- Activate the option to use the previous version of our editor

Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

Hello,

I checked with the team working on the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and this issue was resolved in the last release.

Maybe you need to create a new translation job?
- Go to "WPML > Translation Management" and resend that page to translation.

If the issue persist, could you please provide me with a temporary admin access– so I can further investigate?

I will activate a private field for your next answer where you can provide that information safely (this field is only visible by you and the support team). Don't share your own admin account, create a new one that you will delete when we finish troubleshooting.

Ok I will first try to resend the concerning pages to translation again, but I suppose I will pay double for this pages in that case? I'm just starting to review all pages and posts, and issue affects a lot of pages and posts. If I have to resend them all it will be big extra cost for me, as I bought for 180€ credits and about half is used already with that website...

Hello Steven,

You currently have 43956 credits available for that site. Please try first with a single page to see if it resolves the issue.

Then let me know if you lose credits as we can correct that from our end.

Hi again Nicolas,

It was weekend so that's why I didn't reply.

Strangely the issue seems indeed to be solved for the pages, so all pages are translated, but the errors with wpml_linebreak persists, even after sending for translation again.

I have also resent all contact forms again for translation and one post but problems are not solved.

Meanwhile I only have 12012 credits left...

Hello,

I see that you didn't place the line breaks at the same place than the original language.

At this stage, could you please provide me with a temporary admin access (wp-admin and FTP) – so I can have a closer look. I will activate a private field for your next answer where you can provide that information safely (this field is only visible by you and the support team). Don't share your own admin account, create a new one that you will delete when we finish troubleshooting.

IMPORTANT: Before we proceed, please backup your site and database.

Hello,

Let's focus on the issue first, I logged into your site made made sure that Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) was using the previous version (Gen2 instead of Gen3). Here are my findings:

For the blog post
The WordPress editor was selected for the translation. That means that the translation must be done in WordPress and not our editor (see capture 1).
- I changed it to the WPML translation editor
- Now that ATE is using the previous version of the editor, those segments are correctly split and translated (see capture 2).

For the form
There is an extra step for this one as the translation was "Pending review" (capture 3).
- I approved the pending translation
- Then I send the form again to translation to get the correct format in the previous version of our editor (capture 4)

In short:
- For any form that has the wpml_linebreak issue, make sure that the translation is approved.
- Then open the original form and make a small edit (like adding a space at the end of the title) and save.
- Lastly, edit the translation to see the correction and save it.

Hi Nicolas,

Ok I will check everything and do as you explained, I really hope it will work this time!
Thanks for great support and refunding credits, I really appreciate 🙏

I must say it is the first time for me to translate everything with ATE, and it is for first time a huge job to do with a website with about 80 posts, about 30 different popups and about 30 different contact forms 😅

Thanks again! 🙂
