This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are developing a site using WPML and when uploading a new product in English and translating it to Arabic, you are prompted to translate the image titles, which you find unnecessary and time-consuming. Solution: We recommend two possible workarounds to avoid translating image titles: 1) Install the WPML Media Translation Add-On. This add-on automatically hides the media items in the editor by default. 2) If you prefer a manual adjustment, edit the function in your installation at
To bypass this behavior, add the following constant to your wp-config.php file:
define( 'WPML_MEDIA_VERSION', '666' );
This will prevent the additional media data from being added to the translation package.
Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am developing a site and using WPML to translate content. When I upload a new product in English and attempt to translate it to Arabic, I am prompted to translate the titles of images (see screenshot) which is not required and a waste of time
Symptoms:
I do not want to translate image titles as they are not visible to users and it is a waste of time.
Questions:
How can I make sure that image titles are not requested to be translated?
I have reviewed the previous chat with Norman and it looks like you were disconnected automatically due to the chat not receiving a response.
Also, I noticed that you are using the 4.7.6 version of WPML, please go to Plugins->Add new->Commercial tab and update to the latest version available.
Once you update it you will be able to follow the steps bellow:
1. Go to WPML->Settings
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the section Media Translation
3. Automatically detect best options for translating image texts , make sure this option is set to "OFF"
4. Click on "Setup manually"
5. See my screenshot and mirror the same settings.
6. Create a test page, add a media in it and add translation -- does it still pull the media title, etc?

Hi,
could you please confirm that you ran the test on a new page after changing the settings? This will help us ensure that the updated setting was already active.
yes same issue. I rechecked the setting and provided the attached screenshot. I then added a new test product with images through woocommerce. It is still asking me to translate the titles (see screenshot).

Thanks for the info!
I would eventually also need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed
Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.
✙ Please add the Links to the […] Edit Screen, the Page/Post where you insert the […] and the corresponding Front End Page/Screen

Hi,
Thanks for the access. I checked several products, such as Blue Cape and Blue Kaftan, and noticed that the images don’t appear during the translation process. They only show up for products that are already completed (marked with the pencil icon).
I also tested newly created products, such as "test". However, I couldn’t fully reproduce the issue there either — the image is visible, but it’s copied 1:1 into the translation. This means no extra translation work is required, since it’s already completed and marked in green.
If an image hasn’t been translated yet and appears missing, you can safely ignore it. Once you save the translation, the information will be copied 1:1 automatically. For example, check the product "test2": the text “profile” was copied over when saving, while “Navy bisht set 1” was already present.
Thanks for looking into it but I do not see how this solves the issue.
When I add a new product, the images are almost always new so they will have new names, so naturally they would have not been translated yet. If you are testing, please use images with new names bearing in mind there will be around 5 or so images in the image gallery and one main image for the product.
I cannot ignore the translations. every time I click completed, I get an error (see screenshot). It seems that after the error only one of the translations is copied and then when I click complete I get another error and one of the images gets translated and so on until they are all copied. This is not a solution. Could you kindly advise on how to fix this as the current approach is not practical at all.

Hi Yousef,
Yes, I used a new image that didn’t have a translation yet. While saving, the image name was automatically carried over after the warning appeared. This was for the first image in "test2" the case, so saving was not "blocked".
Could you please leave the affected image area blank and try saving again?
Hi Marcel, Yes the image name carries over after the warning. But if there are 5 images then I have to click 5 time and get errors and warning in each of these 5 times. This is not a solution. I just need the image titles not to appear in the translation as they do not need to be translated.

Hi,
I’m unable to access the site at the moment — could you please check that?
I’d like to download a Duplicator package for local debugging, if that’s alright with you.
