Background of the issue:
I am experiencing a persistent issue with my featured image thumbnails not synchronizing correctly between my default language (English) and my translated languages (Chinese and Malay) on my development site: hidden link. I have followed several troubleshooting steps but have not been able to resolve the issue. My website environment includes WordPress Version 6.8.2, WPML Version 4.8.0, Active Theme: Houzez (version 4.1.5), and PHP Version 8.3.23.

Symptoms:
The featured image thumbnails for my custom post type ('Properties') in the Admin Dashboard are inconsistent. My English listings are correct, but the Chinese (zh) and Malay (ms) versions on the main archive page show old or incorrect thumbnails. Despite the media library counts being synchronized, the featured image thumbnails on the back end of the site are still incorrect for the translated languages.
See attached images 1,2
For the individual property post, all 3 versions show the same images and also the same featured image.

Questions:
How to fix the synchronization of the 3 language media items?
How to ensure that the thumbnail image for the properties are the same for en (default), zh, and ms versions?

Thanks for contacting us. I'm Kor and I've been handling your case previously. I'm not so sure what's going on without checking your Website backend. Could you share temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thank you so much for your willingness to write a review for me. I really appreciate it.

I’ve checked your website, but I’m not yet certain what’s causing the issue. Please make sure that any changes are always made in the primary language (English). Once you’ve updated the translations, the modified images should automatically be copied over to the translated pages.

If you’ve followed these steps correctly and the images are still displaying differently, could you record a short screen capture showing the steps to replicate the issue? You can use a free tool like hidden link to record and share the video.

I'm adding another video to show the same problem in another location.
So the property featured images / thumbnails in the search results etc. also have the same problem.

I guess it's across the site where property thumbnails are displayed.

Thanks for your patience. Our 2nd Tier Support has confirmed that there are no bugs involved. Please make sure to always create listings in the primary language (English) first, and then translate them into Chinese.

For example: hidden link

When you change the featured image in the English (primary) listing, it will automatically update the image in the Chinese (secondary) translation.

What's the recommendation on how to fix the existing situation where certain zh translations of the default en do not have the same featured image as the en version?
Should I:
1. manually change the zh featured image for the listing OR
2. change the en featured image to see if the zh featured image changes accordingly OR
3. any other recommendations?

Thanks for your reply. We'll need to change the Chinese pages from primary to secondary. Do you know how to do this, or would you like me to share a video guide with you?

Yes, please share the video guide. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve received feedback from our 2nd Tier Support, and here’s what they mentioned:

The featured image is displaying correctly on the frontend here:
hidden link

They also noted that you should avoid editing the Chinese page directly with the WordPress Editor, since this page was translated using the ATE.

The issue may be caused by a malformed block or something else preventing autosaving and saving in the Chinese version.

A recommended solution is to delete the Chinese translation and re-translate the page from the English version. This should resolve the problem.
