[Resolved] Translate options goes to page edit in the selected language instead of translator
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are experiencing an issue where editing the main page in the main language does not reset the page back to translation mode. Instead, the translation icon directs to edit the page in the selected language. Solution: 1. Ensure you are editing the page in the default language. 2. In the WordPress dashboard, navigate to the page you want to edit. 3. In the sidebar, locate the 'WPML Translation Editor' tab just above the languages section. 4. Here, you can choose to switch from the WordPress editor to the WPML Translation Editor for 'this page only' or 'all pages'. For more detailed guidance, please visit our documentation on using different translation editors for different pages: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. I have consulted with the customer and the site (hidden link) will be reserved for you guys for troubleshooting 7/22/2024. Please let me know if this fits your schedule.
The staging site is not currently available to work on? If it's available in 5 days, please send us a reminder here along with the access details so we can start reviewing the backend.
In the meantime, please go to the page and edit it in the default language.
On the right sidebar, right above the option to translate can you tell me which option is selected? Is it set to use the WordPress editor or WPML Translation Editor? (feel free to share a screenshot with me)
Also, go to WPML->Support->ATE error log and share with me the top 5 errors logged there if any.
I have to admit, that the solution turned out to be simpler than I initially tested, and it's a bit frustrating that I overlooked such a straightforward step! 😉
Here's how you can switch translation editors for more streamlined page management in WPML:
1. Go to Pages: Start by accessing the page you want to edit in the default language.
2. Access WPML Settings: In the sidebar, just above the languages section, there's a tab labeled "WPML Translation Editor." Click on this tab.
3. Choose Your Editor Preference: You can switch from the WordPress editor to the WPML Translation Editor for "this page only" or "all pages." I opted for "this page only" in my case.
