Background of the issue:
I am trying to assign myself as a translator to translate a Gravity Form. I encountered a similar issue previously, as discussed in this ticket: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/cant-assign-myself-as-translator/.

Symptoms:
When I type my username in the dropdown, there's nothing. I had the same problem before and had to delete and recreate my user each time, which I think is not a good solution.

Questions:
Why can't I assign myself as a translator?
Is there a better solution than deleting and recreating my user?

Hi,

Are you able to add other users to be translators?

The following known issue sounds very closely related to your case.
https://wpml.org/errata/cannot-add-translation-manager-in-some-scenarios/
Can you please try the suggested workaround and see if it helps?

Otherwise, I guess we will need a copy of your site to investigate this issue further.
Your site is currently on your local server, right?

Regards,
Itamar.
