[Resolved] in the advanced translation editor i cannot add to the translation
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are using the advanced translation editor in WPML and cannot save a translation due to an error stating that 'the original sentence includes formatting markers. However, not all markers are applied to the translation.' You need to know how to add formatting markers correctly to resolve this issue. Solution: We have identified that the issue arises because there must be an equal number of newline markers in both the original and translated content. For instance, if there are 7
wpml_linebreak
instances in the original text, you should ensure there are also 7 line breaks in the translation. It's important to note that one of these line breaks might be inside an HTML tag, so you should add one there as well. If you encounter difficulties in applying this solution, please provide us with the exact name of the page or post, and we can assist further.
Please be aware that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am using the advanced translation editor in WPML to finish a translation on my site, hidden link. I am trying to add to the translation.
Symptoms:
I cannot save the translation because of an error: "the original sentence includes formatting markers. However, not all markers are applied to the translation."
Questions:
How can I add to the translation?
How do I resolve the error about formatting markers not being applied?
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.
IMPORTANT
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
Thank you for waiting. I got feedback from the development team. While can't find a permanent solution, there's a workaround.
wpm_linebreas are newlines, and there should be the same number of newlines in the original and in the translated content. So, in the screenshot you sent, we can see that there are 7 "wpml_linebreak" instances, so there should be also 7 line-breaks in the translation. Please note that one of the line-breaks are inside a HTML tag, so you should also add one.
If you don't manage to do that yourself, please tell me the exact name of the page/post so I can do that for you. Let me know how it goes.
Thank you for the reply.
See image. i added 2 linebreaks, but it still gives an error.
And it gives this error with every translation that has linebreaks.
see image,
this is weird anyway, because it should be translation from English to Portuguese, but it is Polish to Portuguese. no idea how an why. but that wil probably my nest support ticket...
But what i wanted to show you is that it is not only with the line breaks, it is also with other 'formatting markers'.
