Background of the issue:
I was trying to fix my navigation in Danish and Spanish after changing the Danish hreflang attribute from 'da' to 'dk'. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link.

Symptoms:
The drop-down navigation is broken. Instead of a drop-down, the navigation appears in one continuous line on the front end. Additionally, my English navigation now appears three times in Appearance > Menu, and I cannot delete or restore it.

Questions:
How can I fix the navigation issue caused by changing the hreflang attribute?
Why is my English navigation appearing three times in the menu, and how can I delete or restore it?

I have tried installing your "WPML CMS Navigation" but it did not change anything.

I have tried disabling Max Mega Menu, and its Pro plugin. This results in my menu being lost completely.

Thanks for contacting us.

I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thanks for your reply. It says "An Authentication Code has been sent to the email address associated with your account. Look for an email with "Login Authentication Code" in the subject line.", could you create a new administrative account using this email address chai.kc@onthegosystems.com ?

Or maybe you can disable that restriction?

Thanks for your reply. I've checked and I can see some issues with the navigation menu in the backend WP > Settings > Menu.

I've navigated to the Danish language and created a "test" menu, and you should be able to edit both language navigation menus as shown in this screen recording hidden link . Could you please check now?

Hi Kor,
Thank you for your support. That is looking good.
Please can you let me know what the issue was? It will help my team solve similar issues if I can tell them what files/tables needed ot be restored or repaired.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. Glad that helped. There isn't anything wrong with the database tables. This looks like a glitch, and creating a menu in the secondary language seems to have solved the issue. If all is good, feel free to mark this ticket as resolved.

Hi Kor,
Many thanks for your help so far. I pushed Staging environment to live. However, I now see that none of our languages are mapped, including English.
I get the attached error and I cannot select English, Spanish or Danish in the drop-down options for mapping languages.

New threads created by Kor and linked to this one are listed below:
