Hello,

My primary website language is English and I have secondary languages (Italian, French and German).
One of my customers left a product review in Italian on the Italian page: hidden link
I now wanted to show it translated in the other languages using WPML string translations.

As you can see from the attached image, I have translated them all.
However, on the live frontend page, only the Italian wording is visible.

I followed the steps explained in this WPML FAQ: https://wpml.org/faq/why-arent-my-translated-strings-showing-up-on-the-front-end-of-my-site/
The problem persists.
I have also cleared the cache, the problem persists.

Could you advise how I can fix this?
Thank you,
Linda

p.s: the site is live, but this contact form only gives "site under development" as a choice.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

Have you made sure to enable the option WooCommerce > WCML > Settings > Product reviews?
- By default, show reviews in all languages

Best regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

sorry for my late reply, I was waiting for an email notification and only looked into WPML today.

To respond to your question, yes, the option WooCommerce > WCML > Settings > Product reviews > By default, show reviews in all languages has been enabled for a long time.

This question was also asked by the AI support and I gave the same response then.

Kind regards,
Linda

Please verify that Forum-Notifications are enabled on your account:
https://wpml.org/account/account-preferences/

And, just to be sure, revise the spam folder of your e-mail inbox.

I'd like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate the issue further.

You'll find the necessary fields below the comment section if you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide will be private, meaning only you and I will be able to see and access it.

IMPORTANT
Please be sure to create a backup of the website and database before granting us access.

If you don't see the "wp-admin / FTP" fields, your login credentials for the post and website will be set to "PUBLIC." Do NOT publish the information unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields.

I may need to install a plugin called "All In One WP Migration" to create a copy of the website on which I can investigate the problem more thoroughly.

I would also be very grateful if you could provide a staging site on your server for this purpose.

If you have any questions about creating such a staging site, please contact your hosting provider. Please ensure that WPML is also registered on this staging site at https://wpml.org/de/account/websites/.

If you are unable to provide such a copy of the website for testing, please let me know on this ticket.

The private reply form looks like this:

Hello Andreas,

Still no emails when you reply, despite notifications being on since always.

I might need a little help giving you access to the different elements you have asked:

Admin access to website: could you give me an email address? WordPress requires an email address when adding new users.

FTP: I use the FTP manager from SiteGround. Can I give you access to that?

Server protection details: Not sure what this is?

Website backup: it has been created.

Website staging: I can't give you that because the plan I have with SiteGround doesn't include the staging environment.

Thank you in advance.
Linda

Hi Linda,

Andreas is out today due to a public holiday, so I’m reaching out in the meantime.

1)

WordPress requires an email address when adding new users.

Since you will be provided with a username and password, there’s no need to use a real email address. No emails need to be sent, so you can use something like noreply@yourdomain.com.

2)

I use the FTP manager from SiteGround. Can I give you access to that?

It would be best to create a dedicated user for us. For security reasons, we’re unable to access your hosting panel directly.

3)

Server protection details: Not sure what this is?

This refers to any web authentication or protection layer that might restrict access to your website (for example, a password prompt before the site loads). If such protection is enabled, we may need the details to access the site.

If you do nto have a staging plan included, you can also use a plugin such as "WP Staging" as an alternative.

If your plan does not include a staging environment, you can alternatively use a plugin such as WP Staging.

In this case, resetting a specific language does not seem necessary.

Best regards,
Marcel

Ok, this is a little confusing, as on String Translation, the review exists once for the original product and once for the translation.

It looks like WPML registers a review for each product, and in your case, you created the review translation for the translated product. See screenshot.

The product-9225 refers to the original product ID 9225. I adjusted the language for the string now to Italian and updated the translations.

Thank you, Andreas, for fixing it.
I couldn't work out why it wouldn't show the correct translations for each language.

Can I remove your admin account from WP and FTP?

Hope you had a good Easter break?

Linda
