Background of the issue:
I am trying to update several pages with translated text using WPML's automatic translation feature. However, the changes do not seem to save to the page. You can see the issue on this page: hidden link.

Symptoms:
The translated webpage shows old information instead of the updated translation. I can only change it by manually editing the page in the English backend, which is not a viable solution for frequently updated pages.

Questions:
Why does the translated webpage show old information instead of the updated translation?
How can I ensure that the automatic translation updates are saved to the page?

Thanks for contacting us. I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Thanks for your reply. I've deleted the English Language homepage and retranslated it. Now it shows the correct contents hidden link . Could you check?

It looks like the Advanced Translation Editor went out of sync and is showing outdated content on the site.

No worries. Your translations are safely stored in the translation memory. To resolve this, please follow these steps:

1. Make a full backup of your site

2. Edit the affected translated pages (English)

3. Delete the translated page and then permanently remove it from the trash bin

4. Go back to the primary language page and retranslate it using the Advanced Translation Editor

The updated content should now display correctly.

Let me know once you’ve tried this or if you need any help along the way.

Hi, I made a backup.
Went to a page that is affected, deleted the English translation. Tried to translate.. but it does not go through, keeps circling.
I tried in several ways.
Do you have a solution?

Thanks for your reply. Your Website keeps going down with a 504 Gateway Timeout error when I try to edit this page hidden link , as shown in the attached screenshot. Can I have your permission to temporarily deactivate third-party plugins for testing? If you agree, please make sure to take the latest backup of the site and let me know.

I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.

To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:

1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link

2. Consult WPML's instructions on providing supporters with a copy of your site: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-supporters-copy-site/

3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.

Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.

Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.

Thanks Kor, I hope there is a solution. One page of the English version is now totally gone, and cannot be added. So I hope it can be solved.
