I am trying to: Translate the admin_texts_wpseo_titles string, the translated version does not show when on the translated instance
Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link
I expected to see: Page introuvable %%sep%% %%sitename%%
Instead, I got: Page not found %%sep%% %%sitename%%
WPML SEO is installed and up to date (2.1.0)
WPML Multilingual CMS is up to date (4.6.5)
Yoast SEO is up to date (21.2)
WordPress is up to date (6.3.1)
This has happened before with WPML and Yoast and I don't get why this is occurring as this is one of the only things we are using WPML for. This is a new build, with pretty standard plugins (wide install base).
Before this ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues I will add the initial answer.
First thing first, I'd appreciate it if you could update WPML and String Translation to the latest version:
- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add new > Commercial (tab)".
- Click the "Check for Updates" button.
- Update WPML and its addons there.
We don’t use automated updates as our site is managed via a code repo. As mentioned in the intitial ticket we are on the latest for each plugin
WPML Multilingual CMS
Version 4.6.5 - LATEST
WPML SEO
Version 2.1.0 - LATEST
WPML String Translation
Version 3.2.7 - LATEST
Process followed as per the above instructions, outcome - partially unsuccessful
1. Deleted - admin_texts_wpseo_titles
2. Auto register set - hidden link
3. Visited 404 page
4. Re-translated string: hidden link
5. This worked until 'Auto-register strings for translation' was unchecked at that point translation disappeared again
6. The string is still showing that is is translated hidden link
7. The page still displays English only and not the translated string - hidden link
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to test the issue.
(preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible)
**Before we proceed It is necessary to take FULL BACKUP of your database and your website. Providing us with access, you agree that a backup has been taken **
I often use the Duplicator plugin for this purpose: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply.
The information you enter is private which means only you and I have access to it.
NOTE: If access to the live site is not possible and the staging site does not exist please provide me with a duplicator package created with the duplicator plugin.
Thank you,
Bobby
