Problem:
While translating a site into Japanese using WPML and BuddyBoss, the confirmation email for member registration contained unwanted HTML and a non-functional link.
Solution:
We identified that the issue was not with the WPML string translation but with the BuddyBoss email template. The placeholder for the activation link in the Japanese version of the email template was incorrectly formatted. It used
{{activate.url}}
instead of the correct
{{{activate.url}}}
format used in the English version. This incorrect format caused the link to malfunction. To resolve this, you should correct the placeholder in the BuddyBoss email template to match the English format by ensuring it uses three curly braces.

In String Translation, if you search for the translated text, string by string, it comes up, but if you change it, nothing changes the result. It's been a week here alone. Next, I stopped the CMS (strings turned on) and it returned to English text, but it is normal. I don't mind if it is in English but it is being translated on its own and I am having trouble. |

The problem is not resolved. The problem is that the link does not work because the Japanese translation of the circle in the image is duplicated. If you stop “WPML Multilingual CMS” and register as a member, you will receive a normal (not translated) registration confirmation email. Therefore, it seems that “WPML Multilingual CMS” is related to the translation of this e-mail, but the cause is unknown here. |

Based on the information you provided in the duplicate ticket, it seems that you are translating the text through the strings. BuddyBoss uses placeholders like {{{activate.url}}} in the URLs. I'm unclear on what you mean by saying they are not translated, as your screenshot shows the "pencil" icon, which indicates that the strings have been translated. Please click on the icon to verify if the translations are correct. I suspect you may have translated the wrong string and are searching for the one that defaults to Japanese. Please let me know if this helps clarify the issue. You referred to "an extra translation is added" Do you mean the text after the "/"? This might be coming from the variable. Best Regards, |

That is correct. What is at issue is the part after the following / translated into Japanese. Thank you for registering! Correct, the last / and after is a duplicate translation and is unnecessary. The result of the extra / is an HTML link and the whole thing doesn't work when you click on it. Response 1: “Please access ”. is removed, the process is complete. The problem is that the click does not work, which is fatal since membership registration is the gateway to everything. |

Hi, thanks for the info. So if right now Japanese is your default language, it seems the wrong string is registered and translated. What does the actual Japanese translation from that string shows? Is the HTML correct there? I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it. Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Hi, thank You! The mentioned string in your other ticket is not the translated string you saw in your mail notification. Take a close look at the wording your screenshot was showing: "Thanks for registering! To complete the activation of your account, go to the following link:" The entry in hidden link">WPML string translation is different. The string your screenshot was showing is named "Thanks for registering! To complete the activation of your account and site, go to the following link: It includes "and site". The translation is also not in Japanese; it has the 1:1 translation of English saved, but your screenshot shows Japanese letters. This is not the string your mail notification is showing. I can't detect any other string that could be related. I used AI to extract the Japanese letters from your provided screenshot, so it's easier for me to search for that content; I will add it here as a reference: 登録ありがとう! アカウントのアクティベーションを完了するには、以下のリンクにアクセスしてください: にアクセスしてください。 I researched all strings (including translations) for "登録ありがとう!" and can't find any entry coming from WPML string translation. But I found it coming from BuddyBoss -> E-Mails: hidden link. The default language is Japanese, as expected, and the string is translated into English there. And the issue here is that the placeholder variable (registration token URL) got modified: hidden link. It uses {{activate.url}} as a variable, with 2 symbols; in English, it uses 3 symbols {{{activate.url}}}, which is correct. So the issue is that the Japanese variant was changed from {{{activate.url}} to {{activate.url}}. Please remember that this is not a string; it's a regular post inside BuddyBoss and was already wrong in your default language before it was translated by WPML.
