Background of the issue:
We have a webshop with 3 languages: NL as primary, and EN and DE as secondary. We changed the primary language to EN and want to remove NL and DE languages, then remove WPML.

Symptoms:
When opening an EN product, it shows as a translation of NL and cannot be edited.

Questions:
How can we make the EN products editable and set them as primary?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

To achieve this, you must follow these steps:
- Create a full site backup
- Edit a product in NL (original language)
- Go to the Language block (usually in the right column) -> Click on WordPress Editor -> In the popup window, select the scope of the change -> Save the changes
- Now you will be able to edit the products in English.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi Carlos,

I need to to do this for all products in one go. With your steps it would need to be done per product (+450). Is there another option?

Cheers,
Jaap

Hi Jaap,

Welcome to WPML support. There is no bulk way to 100% remove everything but you can use this method:

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- I repeat it is very important that you have a backup, so in any case the method does not work you will have away to bring back the website.
- Go to WPML > Settings and make sure the options below are unchecked:
- When deleting a post, delete translations as well
- When deleting a taxonomy (category, tag or custom), delete translations as well
- Go to List of the pages and from the top language switcher select the language you do not want.
- Select all the pages for that language and remove them.
- Do the same for other language that you do not want.
- Do the same for posts, categories, products or any other custom post you have.
- Go to WPML > Languages and click the Add/Remove languages button and remove the other two languages.
- Make sure you also delete the data of those languages after select save. (it will show in the list below the languages option)
- Deactivate WPML and check if everything works.

Thanks.
