This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are developing a site and need to display the same content for a custom post type while only translating the taxonomy terms. You are unsure if it is possible to display the same content of a custom post type with only the taxonomy terms translated.
Solution:
1) You can set the custom post type (CPT) to fallback to the default language in WPML-> Settings-> Post Type Translation section. For more details on showing untranslated content, please check this guide.
2) If the issue persists, try duplicating the CPT and check if the duplicated CPT displays correctly. You can bulk duplicate the posts via WPML-> Translation Management.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

1) You can set this CPT to fallback to the default language in WPML-> Settings-> Post Type Translation section. Please check this guide to know more about showing untranslated content.

2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me much information about how your site is configured.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi Osama, hope you're doing good?

It is a local site as we speak so hard to debug for you maybe but I have set the CPT to "fallback to the default language" but translated my taxonomies. Nothing shows up on the frontend in my other language. Is it due to the taxonomies being translated?

Thanks!

Hi,

Please try to duplicate the CPT and check if the duplicated CPT will appear correctly.

Best regards,
Osama

Alex

I've never duplicated a CPT before, do you have an easy solution for this? It's a lot of work. Do you think it's because WPML was activated AFTER the CPT and pages were created?

Hi,

The issue occurs because the CPT taxonomies are translated, while the CPT posts are not.

You might need to duplicate the posts so that the translated taxonomies will have posts assigned to them.

You can bulk duplicate the products via WPML-> Translation Management.

Best regards,
Osama

Good morning Osama, I went with your solution.

However I found another bug. I am using ACF's Flexible Content to build my page but when I translate a page my "Link" field in the other language appears even though it is empty (you can see the rounded thing underneath the paragraph in my screenshot). I tried filling the field, saving, removing it, it worked the first time but the empty buttons reppeared shortly. Is there a solution for this?

Thanks

Hi,

We try to keep one issue per ticket in our forum. Continuing with one ticket per issue helps supporters focus on one issue at a time and enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.

Therefore, I've split the other issue and created a new ticket with this issue.

Best regards,
Osama
