Background of the issue:
I changed the default site language from English to Slovak on my site hidden link. I am using WPML with WooCommerce, and I want all categories and attributes to have Slovak as their original language.

Symptoms:
Categories and attributes created before the language change are still linked to English as their original language. WPML treats these as translations, causing synchronization issues and preventing proper editing.

Questions:
Could you please help transfer all categories and attributes created before the default language change to the new default language (Slovak)?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to WPML support! I’m happy to assist you with this issue.

Products, categories, and attributes can be created in either the primary or secondary language as their original language. This behavior does not change based on the site's default language. Therefore, if you create content in the default language and later change the default language, the original language of the existing content will still remain as the previous default.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to bulk change the original language of content. However, you can still translate the content from the previous default language to the new one without any issues.

If you want to manually change the original language, you can follow these steps:

1. Disconnect the current translations: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-disconnect-translations-from-the-default-language-page-or-post/

2. Edit the translations: and set the correct languages using the language metabox.

3. Reconnect the translations: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/.

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks
