[Waiting for user confirmation] The images on the website pages are not displayed, and the menu links in the minority languages ...
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I am experiencing issues with my website hidden link and I am trying to find a solution. I have searched for a solution but couldn't find one.
Symptoms:
The images on the website pages are not displayed, and the menu links in the minority languages will jump to the main language after clicking.
Questions:
Why are the images on my website not displaying?
Why do the menu links in minority languages redirect to the main language?
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Our Debugging Procedures
I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
Did you see my previous reply requesting access to your site so I can look into this further? I have marked the next reply as private so that you can share credentials in the secure fields.
I am seeing broken thumbnail images when I view your German media library and if I try to open an image, such as Extrusion-equipment-solution-discussion-FANLYPLAS-2024-4-2, I don't see the image in the library. Does this happen if you upload a new image?
We are going to have to test your site in minimal settings, meaning only WPML active with Elementor. Do you have a staging site where we can test that for you? If not, you can create one using something like WP Staging, or some hosting providers can provide one for you. If those options don't work, let me know and I can set one up and migrate a copy of your site there.
After further inspection, I think the issue is related to how your different domains per language are set up. I used hidden link to check both English and German domains and it looks like they are pointing to different IPs, which would explain the issue. Both languages need to be pointing to the same server. To confirm if this is the issue, you can temporarily switch the URL format to different languages in directories, clear the cache, run the media sync and see if everything is working as expected.
If so, you can switch back to different domains per language and update the DNS for hidden link to match the IP of the primary domain (e.g., example.com):
Go to your domain registrar or DNS provider.
1. Set an A record for hidden link to point to the same IP address as hidden link.
2. Wait for DNS propagation (can take a few minutes to a few hours).
