Background of the issue:
I am trying to display a video in a pop-up when clicking the play button inside a carousel section on my website. The section has a background image and an icon 'play button'. Can you please answer via mail, because I didn't see the messages on the preview post. hidden link (String plugin is now also active). Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link
Symptoms:
When clicking the play button in the carousel, a pop-up should open and play the video. Instead, the play button only opens a link instead of triggering the pop-up. This issue occurs only when WPML is enabled. Without WPML, the pop-up works as intended.
Questions:
Why does the play button only open a link instead of triggering the pop-up when WPML is enabled?
How can I resolve the conflict between WPML and the video pop-up functionality?
Thanks for your reply. I can see the issue on your Website. I will have to escalate this further to our 2nd Tier Support. I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.
To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:
1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link
3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.
Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.
Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.
Thanks for your reply. I’ve checked, and it seems the issue is caused by a conflict between certain widgets and WPML. I was able to make it work correctly on a new test page here hidden link even with WPML active.
I suspect that another Elementor widget is causing the conflict. Could you please duplicate your homepage hidden link
to a new test page, then remove the widgets one by one, saving after each removal, to identify which one is triggering the issue?
I also tried replicating the same setup on our sandbox site here hidden link and everything works fine. You can log in using this link to experiment freely hidden link
Thanks for your reply. I just made a duplicate of the page, and that one works fine. So I think the issue is related to the “homepage setting.” When I set it as the homepage, it stops working. Do you have any idea why that might be? Thanks in advance for your help!
Thanks for your reply. I compared both pages hidden link
and hidden link
and noticed some differences. Did you try the method I mentioned earlier where you isolate each Elementor widget section by section to identify which one causes the issue? Also, could you clarify which homepage settings you’re referring to?
I wanted to do it as you suggested. I copied the page for testing, but the videos work fine here. When I then set the new page as the homepage, it stops working. So I think that's the problem. hidden link
Thanks for your reply. I have no idea why this is happening and I will have to escalate this to our 2nd Tier Support for further investigation. I will come back to you once I've feedback.
