Hi,
We work with English language as the default one and use WPML auto-translations to get Spanish & Italian texts. Well, sometimes, we need to review the WPML automatic translations to add some corrections, we'd like to translate the content from EN to ES automatically and then, once the ES is reviewed, translate it via WPML from ES to IT. Would that be possibe? I can just see the > Translators options within the translation management system but it's apparently to assign translation tasks to specific human translator right?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. Let me explain few points that should help you understand how it works and find a workflow that fits your needs.

1. We have two topions in "WPML > Settings"
- Translate everything: That will automatically translate your entire site from EN to ES and IT
- Translate What You Choose: More flexible, you can translate yourself, send to automatic translation, work with translators etc...

So in you case because you want to do one language at the time, I would recommend "Translate What you Choose"

2. Just below in "WPML > Settings" you can set the automatic revision.
- Either "Let me review it before it gets published" or "Publish right away but mark as not reviewed so I can take a look later" should work for you.

3. In "WPML > Translation Management" you can send pages to automatic translation in bulk.

Look at the screenshot in this documentation, the #2 (languages) show you that you can translate ES and "do nothing" for IT.

That way, you can send all pages to automatic translation from EN to ES only and then review those translations

4. Translating from ES to IT
Unfortunately, WPML only allows you to use automatic translation from the primary language to secondary languages. This is done in purpose to avoid to decrease the translation quality. As the name suggest automatic translation is a machine translation and is not perfect, so translating from a "not perfect" translation to another language will decrease the quality. That's why it's but recommended.

You can still achieve that but it will be a manual process. Once you have the Spanish translation, go to "Pages" and switch to "Spanish" to open and edit the Spanish translation.
In the right sidebar ("Language" section), you will be able to add the Italian translation by clicking on the "+" icon. This will open our Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and let you translate to Italian manually. However, you have a button at the top to use automatic translation.

Look at the screenshot attached. In my example, the main language is English, the secondary language already translated is French, and I can use the top button to automatic translate from French to Spanish.
