I copied the site from production to staging site. I unregistered and registered again both sites with their WPML keys respectively.
Now at our production site WPML detects a new website. The URL of the production website never changed but WPML gives the message on the production site that the page was moved from production site to staging site.
Whatever I click (yes, no) I come back to the same message all the time - it´s an endless loop where I don´t get out anymore.

Just to make sure, have you created the site key for the staging site hidden link after choosing the *Yes/ This is only a copy - the original site is still running* option and pressing the *Yes* button of the *WPML has detected a new website* notification? Please confirm.
Also, please fill in the private details fields after a full site backup{mandatory}. I would like to access the admin area of your staging site for further checking. Refer to the following links for more details about our private information sharing policies.

1) Create a new staging site, for example hidden link
2) Login to hidden link
3) Visit WPML>>Translation Management Dashboard
4) Choosing the *Yes/ This is only a copy - the original site is still running* option
5) Press the *Yes* button of the *WPML has detected a new website* notification
6) Create a test Post and try to translate it

you can login with the user right now at hidden link. I had to update the password. How can I send you another hidden message with the updated info?
I created a new site hidden link and cloned the wordpress content.
- The production site still has the endless loop problem.
- both staging and production site show gear wheels at string translation / wpv-views which are not clickable. The translation queue is emply. I need to translate those strings.

1) Visit WPML>>String Translation
2) Filter the strings by *domain: wpv-views*
3) Sent the strings for translation to the Translation Basket
4) Visit WPML>>Translation Management>>Translation Basket
5) Send it for translation, by choosing yourself as a translator
6) Visit WPML>>Translations queue
7) Filter the Strings by Type column
8) Translate it
