This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to update the WPML plugin because it cannot connect to wpml.org after moving the site to a new domain.
Solution:
The issue was resolved after creating a new site key with the following steps:
1. Visit your account page.
2. Delete the key for your site.
3. Navigate to Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial tab.
4. Click on "Unregister WPML from this site".
5. Click on "Register WPML".
6. Click on "Get a key for this site".
7. Create a new key and use it to register again in Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial tab.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. I get message "WPML plugin cannot connect to wpml.org" on plugins page and cannot update plugin. That happened after moving wite to new domain

Hi,
Thanks for contacting WPML support.

This could be a temporary connection issue. Please try the following steps to force another check to clear the notice:

- Go to ​​Dashboard > Updates
- Click the "Check again" link

If that didn't help, please check the Installer Support Log for errors by following this guide: https://wpml.org/faq/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-org/#how-do-i-check-the-installer-support-log-for-errors

Could you please try the following steps?

1- Go to your account page (https://wpml.org/account/sites/)
2- Delete the key for this site
3- Go to Plugins-> Add new-> Commercial tab
4- Click on "Unregister WPML from this site"
5- Click on "Register WPML"
6- Click on "Get a key for this site" (Kindly check the attached screenshot)
7- Create the new key and use it to register again in Plugins-> Add new-> Commercial tab
