This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to auto-translate the product availability date in the Google for WooCommerce settings on their site. They want the same value copied to the Google for WooCommerce settings on product pages in other languages without manually entering them each time.
Solution:
First, ensure that you are using the WordPress Editor to create translations, as editing translations directly using the WP Editor is not recommended. You can set the WordPress Editor as your translation tool by following this guide: Using different translation editors for different pages.

Next, to auto-copy the availability date field and possibly other fields to other languages when editing and saving the product page in the default language, navigate to WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation. Find the specific field and set it to "Copy once" if you want the content to be copied over once the translation is created and remain as is. Alternatively, you can set it to "Copy" if you want the translation to always stay in sync with the original. More details on these options can be found here: Translating custom fields.

Hey there,

It's likely that those values aren't translatable automatically, as there are no expected values an AI could automatically predict for a date on another language. Also, it's unlikely that they will show inside WPML's Translation Editor, unless the plugin author set those values as translatable.

Nonetheless, you might be able to set different values for other languages, if you use the WordPress editor to create the translations. It's explained here:

https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

The explanation is focused on having different designs, but it applies to any information you want to have different. Let me know if this answers your question.

Hi Lucas,

Thanks so far!

I don't need another value. I need the exact same value copied to the google for woocommerce settings on productpages in the other languages.

When I switch to another language on a product edit page; the fields for the google for woocommerce section are not locked; so I can manually fill them. However; this will take ages. So I'd like to auto-copy the availability date field and maybe some other fields to other languages whenever I edit and save the productpage in the default language.

Kind regards, Chris

Hello there,

Thanks for clarifying. I thought you were trying to have different dates across languages. The specific plugin you're using hasn't been fully tested with WPML, so I cannot tell for sure how it will behave on secondary languages.

I apologize in advance, if you've done that already, but another important side note, is that unless you directly set the product to use the WordPress Editor to create translations, you should never directly edit them using the WP Editor. You can find how to set the WordPress Editor as your translation tool here:

https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

Now tackling your question: it might be possible to have those values copied over when creating translations, by going to WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation, finding that specific field and setting it to "Copy once". That really depends on how the plugin was developed, so let me know your results.

Hi Lucas,

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

Why 'copy once' and not 'copy' ?

Kind regards, Chris

'Copy once' copies the content from the original, once the translation is created and keeps it as it is (you can change it in the translation, if you wish). 'Copy' will always keep the translation in sync with the original. You can choose what suits you best.
