This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was unable to complete the WPML setup on their WordPress site due to a notification link that was pointing to a staging URL, which no longer existed.
Solution:
We recommended the following steps to resolve the issue:
1. Deactivate the WPML Media Translation plugin.
2. Search for the migration banner using the image as a reference: https://cdn.wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/15156427-Screen_Shot_2024_01_05_at_8.41.02_PM.png
3. Configure the migration banner as necessary.
4. Reactivate the WPML Media Translation plugin and verify if the issue has been resolved.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to complete the setup of WPML on my WordPress site. The notification on top of the screen in WordPress shows I didn't complete the setup, with a link to end it. This link does not work and links to the staging from where the website was developed. The issue can be seen at: hidden link

Symptoms:
The link to complete the setup results in an error because it doesn't exist anymore.

Questions:
How can I update the link to point to the correct section for completing the setup?
How do I remove the incorrect notification if the link is broken?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

1.- This issue might happen because the site was on the staging URL when WPML plugins were installed, and then it was moved to the production site.

If the above is correct, then I kindly ask you to follow these steps:
- Deactivate the WPML Media Translation plugin
- Look for the migration banner, something like this: hidden link
- Configure the migration banner
- Activate the WPML Media Translation plugins and double-check if the issue disappeared

Could you tell me the results of the steps described above?

2.- Please share the debug information of the site as described in this guide: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

Regards,
Carlos

Hi,
So I deactivated the WPML Media Translation plugin. I couldn't find the migration banner, so activated the WPML Media Translation plugin again. For some reason I don't see the notification anymore.

No notification means no incorrect link. so I guess it's fixed 😉

Have a great weekend Carlos

Kind regards,
Emile
