This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is using WPML with the Avada theme to translate the main menu on their WordPress site. The translated menus are displaying on two lines on desktop, indicating a potential padding adjustment issue.
Solution:
We recommend trying the following steps:
1. Shorten the translated menu items:
- Navigate to Appearance >> Menus
- Select the translated (secondary language) menu
- Edit the "Navigation Label" to make it shorter if possible
- Click Save Menu

2. Adjust padding/styling per language using Avada theme options:
- Take a backup of your site theme options first for safety reasons.
- Set the language switcher (in the admin top bar) to the secondary language.
- Go to Avada >> Options.
- Adjust padding or CSS under Custom CSS or relevant menu settings.
- Click Save Changes.
- Repeat for each language as needed

For more detailed instructions, please refer to the documentation on using WPML with the Avada theme.

Background of the issue:
I am using WPML to translate the main menu on my WordPress site, which is built with the Avada theme. The main menu contains only internal links to pages, posts, and Avada portfolios, and the menu structure is identical between languages. I have followed the documentation provided by WPML for translating menus.

Symptoms:
The translated menus are taking up two lines on desktop when translated, which suggests a padding adjustment issue.

Questions:
How can I adjust the padding for the translated main menus in Avada to ensure it fits on one line? The padding will be different depending on which language menu I'm editing.
Is there a specific setting in WPML or Avada that I need to adjust to fix the menu layout?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. This issue typically happens when the translated menu items are longer and don't fit within the menu container, causing them to wrap to a second line.

You can try either of the following:

1. Shorten translated menu items:
- Go to Appearance >> Menus
- Select the translated (secondary language) menu
- Edit the “Navigation Label” to make it shorter if possible
- Click Save Menu

2. Adjust padding/styling per language using Avada theme options:
Avada lets you customize theme options per language. Here's how:

- Take a backup of your site theme options first for safety reasons.
- Set the language switcher (in the admin top bar) to the secondary language.
- Go to Avada >> Options.
- Adjust padding or CSS under Custom CSS or relevant menu settings.
- Click Save Changes.
- Repeat for each language as needed

Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance with this issue.

Thank you

I was aware we could use this method for Avada typography but hadn't considered having custom CSS per language too. Thanks
