Background of the issue:
I am trying to resolve an issue where some pages in WPML show the translation status as 'In Progress' even though the translation is 100% completed. I have saved and marked them as complete multiple times, but the status does not update. The issue occurs between the English → Italian translation. Here’s one example: Live page: hidden link WPML dashboard link: hidden link
Symptoms:
The translation status remains 'In Progress' despite being 100% completed. I expected to see 'Status Complete' in the translation dashboard, but instead, 'In Progress' status is appearing.
Questions:
Why does the translation status remain 'In Progress' even after marking it as complete?
How can I update the translation status to 'Complete'?
Unfortunately, I don't have control over that. The notifications are sent to the account's email only.
Also, I noticed your website is hosted by Kinsta, which blocks most common backup and migration tools (which we need to create copies and test solutions on websites). In this case, I kindly ask you to create a staging version of the website, and send me the link to it. You can leave the same user you already shared with me there, so I can access it directly.
With the staging version, I can escalate your ticket to the ATE team, who will look for a permanent solution to your issue. Meanwhile, you can create the translation using the WP Editor, as explained here:
Thank you for waiting. The issue was fixed in a latest release of ATE. If you encounter a translation that has this issue, please do as follows:
1. Update the original page in Elementor. You can edit a text and Publish your changes;
2. Open the translation editor and save the changes;
3. Wait a few minutes;
I hope you are doing well.
If you review my earlier conversation with the WPML Support AI bot, you’ll see the same solution was suggested. I’ve already followed those steps multiple times and the issue persists, which is why I opened this ticket. I don’t believe this is related to updating content in Elementor; it seems to be something else. Please involve your technical team to investigate thoroughly and fix this as soon as possible—our website is not fully operational because of the “In progress” status issue.
Also, since you have access to my staging site and I’ve already listed the affected pages, please apply your suggested steps there, resolve the issue, and let me know.
I suggested this, because this issue has been addressed and resolved on a recent ATE update. Also, updates to Elementor are not related to the issue per se, it's just a way of updating the translations.
I tried again and this time I was able to see the issue. I escalated it, and will get back to you as soon as I receive updates. Thank you for your patience.
We've had some other clients with the same issue. It seems to be related to some specific server-side configurations, but we still couldn't pinpoint what the issue actually is. It might still take a few days.
Meanwhile, as a workaround, you can try translating the page that has the issue using the WP Editor, as explained here:
We launched a new version of ATE that should fix the issue. Please re-send the content for translation in WPML > Translation Management and let me know if it works this time.
I tried logging into the website, but received an error:
Error: The username Lucas is not registered on this site. If you are unsure of your username, try your email address instead.

I was able to fix it for the home page. Now that the WPML Translation Editor is working, I deleted and recreated the French page. The translations are saved in memory, so it's a fairly quick process.
