The right lead generation and email marketing tools can streamline the process of reaching your preferred audience and sending targeted campaigns in their language. Here are some WPML-compatible plugins and tools to help you grow your global marketing efforts.

What is Lead Generation?

Lead generation identifies website visitors who are interested in your products or services. You can turn them into followers or potential customers through engaging calls-to-action (CTA) or incentives. They can opt in to your list through newsletter sign-up forms, pop ups, landing pages, or chatbots.

This allows you to build a database for future marketing, sales, and communication efforts.

What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing is contacting your list of leads with relevant and important information for them. Once you start generating your list of subscribers, you can contact them via email to:

  • Let your audience know about upcoming events, sales or product launches
  • Encourage purchases with special offers or sneak previews
  • Welcome and onboard new clients
  • Remarket to customers who haven’t purchased or engaged with you in a while
  • Send surveys to clients or potential customers to help improve your products and services

Lead Generation and Email Marketing for an International Audience

Expanding globally with a multilingual site can do great things for your business, such as:

  • Increase sales outside of your local demographic
  • Expand your audience and viewership
  • Grow your business’s international reputation

You can use lead generation and email marketing strategies on an international scale. However, there are a few more things you need to consider.

For example, you need to make sure that any CTAs, pop ups and forms are available in your visitors’ native language.

Once they have submitted their details, you need to add them to a mailing list appropriate for their language preference. This will allow you to target them in campaigns for their specific language or demographic.

Communicating with your leads in their preferred language gives you a better chance to convert them into engaged clients. This builds also trust with your international audiences and encourages them to keep returning to your site.

You can combine the multilingual features of WPML with a reliable lead generation and email marketing tool to achieve these outcomes.

  1. This post is missing MailOptin (https://mailoptin.io), a WordPress popup and email optin form plugin. You can create lightbox forms, slide-ins, notification bar, and sidebar forms.

It goes a step further to automatically notify your list subscribers whenever you publish new blog content because MailOptin can send blog posts as email newsletters.

And there is a free version available in the plugin repository https://wordpress.org/plugins/mailoptin

Consider adding MailOptin to this post. And I am a paid WPML customer.

  2. MailPoet better than MailChimp.

Squirrly SEO should be on your roadmap, the compatability for WPML and Sqirrly are very important to me.

Why feature 2 pop-up builders? I don’t like popups much.

    • Thanks for the suggestion Craig!

We will look into MailPoet and also see if we can reach the plugin developer for collaboration. If you would like to see this move forward positively, you may also ask the plugin author to connect with us via our Go Global program: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/go-global-program/

Regarding Squirrly SEO: They have confirmed that they already worked on WPML compatibility. We do not have them listed in our plugin directory yet as the author ceased to respond to our follow-up emails. You should not have any issues with using their plugin with ours, however, if you do experience any issues, I would recommend asking them to reach us again via our Go Global application form.

Finally, since the topic of the post relates to Lead Generation, it is important that we feature some pop-up builders as this is one of the fundamental methods for capturing leads.

  3. Thank you for those information on compatible plugins. You talk about Mailchimp but What about compatibility with Mailpoet ? I use this newsletter tool and can’t translate confirmations for example. Thank you Florence Richomme

  4. Hi Allison, having all the data at the own server is a great advantage from The Newsletter plugin if you have to care about GDPR compliance. It’s great for clients which are just starting with a newsletter cause the free plugin works for small amount of recipients (<1000). If the clients subscriber pool grows you can connect it to sendinblue*, which also can be applied by GDPR compilance. Double Opt-In and single click sign off are also supported in the free version.

If you are using Toolset or any other sort of custom post types there is a basic list function by “Extended Composer Blocks” which comes with the payed version.

*actually i never did the integration with sendinblue, probably you’ll have to force your users to resign the newsletter, and inform them that you’re using an external newsletter service according to GDPR compilance.

    • Forgot to say that i have never integrated it with WPML so that I can’t tell anything about multi language compatibility.

      • Hi Torsten

Thank you for adding those additional points about Newsletter! We are glad you enjoy using this plugin and that it works for your GDPR needs too.

Since you mentioned Sendinblue, it is worth noting that we have also been working with their team to confirm compatibility with WPML, however they are yet to provide us with any updates. We hope that this can be pushed forward soon 🙂

        • Hi, did you happen to mention woocommerce transactional emails with Sendinblue?

I saw that they have everything I’m looking for: chat, conversations (whatsapp, facebook, instagram), transactional emails, automations. and more. But what works with wpml?

It’s a mad dash to find a platform that has human prices(Advanced Hubspot is only for the rich) and is compatible with wmpl. The alternative is to install dozens of plugins that do not interact with each other.

Give me good news so I’m back in a good mood!

          • Hi Luigi – We’re working to ensure SendInBlue is compatible with WPML. If you’d like to push it along faster, please reach out to their team and let them know WPML compatibility is important to you.
