This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was facing a critical error on their website, which required manual debugging. The error was visible on a specific page, and the client was unable to access the backend login page, as the usual /wp-admin URL returned a 404 error.
Solution:
We recommended the client to verify the correct login endpoint since the usual /wp-admin URL was not functioning. This step is crucial for us to gain access and assist further. If you're experiencing a similar issue, we recommend checking if the login URL has been changed or if there are any restrictions that might have been applied to the /wp-admin directory.

Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hi again,

I need to see which symbol is causing the issue. I would eventually also need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.

✙ Please add the Links to the […] Edit Screen, the Page/Post where you insert the […] and the corresponding Front End Page/Screen

Best Regards,
Marcel

When I check the website in the WordPress backend, the webpage opens normally when the language is switched. However, when I enter the URL in the browser, the page shows 'not found'.

Hi,

Please check whether the page is set to Draft. If so, only logged-in admins can view it — other visitors will see a 404 (Not Found) error.

Best regards,
Marcel

1) Please check whether your backend login endpoint (/wp-admin) is currently accessible or changed.

2) Could you confirm if this issue occurs only on the homepage or also on other pages, so we can try to reproduce it?

Best Regards,
Marcel

It only happens on the home page, and only French and German are affected. Home pages in other languages can be opened normally. Home pages in all languages can be opened on the backend.

Hi,

I’m still unable to access the backend login page — it looks like the login URL may have been changed. When I try to visit /wp-admin, it returns a 404 error.

Could you please double-check the correct login endpoint?

Best regards,
Marcel
