This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to find a specific product attribute in the WPML String Translations and is seeking a way to translate it without having to re-translate the entire product, which was imported using the WPML WP Import plugin.

Solution:
1. Global attributes defined in WooCommerce > Attributes should be available for translation in WPML > String Translation.
2. Per-product attributes are bundled with the product, so to translate them, the client needs to translate the entire product.
3. When using the Advanced Translation Editor, it is necessary to translate all content again, including custom product attributes.
4. There is no option to translate only specific fields and leave the rest untouched within the Advanced Translation Editor.
5. The client can make changes to the import file and re-import it to translate the product attributes.

For more information, please refer to our documentation on why translations might not be showing.

Hello there,

I am trying to translate a string Attribute but I could not find it in String Translations. I have found every other product attribute but I could not find a specific one.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!
I hope that I am understanding your question here properly, but if I don't feel free to expand more on the information and please include screenshots illustrating the issue more in-depth.

Global attributes - these that you define from WooCommerce > Attributes - should be available for translation from WPML > String Translation.
However for per-product attributes - they are bundled in the product itself - so you have to translate the product and they should be there.

Hello,

I found it by using the edit translation for each product. I think is the case you said that is a per-product attribute.

However, we used the wpml wp import plugin using xml from another site in order to import our products and their corresponding translations. So when I press edit translation for a product most of the translation fields are empty and we have to translate them again I guess? Is there any available option to translate only this specific field and leave the rest untouched? Because the products are already translated correctly with the wpml wp import plugin and it will be very time consuming to translated them all over again.

I upload an image of a product edit translation and I highlighted the attribute-field we have the issue with.

Thank you!

Hi,

It is expected behavior when you import the translation product to your site then translate the product in the Advanced Translation Editor. You have to translate all content again, including the custom product attribute (per-product attribute).
Refer documentation https://wpml.org/faq/why-arent-my-translations-showing/

So when I press edit translation for a product most of the translation fields are empty and we have to translate them again I guess?

Yes, correct.

Is there any available option to translate only this specific field and leave the rest untouched?

I'm afraid that there isn't an option to translate only attributes in the Advanced Translation Editor and leave the rest untouched. You can make the changes in the import file and re-import it to your site as you do to translate the product.

Thanks.

Thanks for the help! I have another issue concerning the default form values in a product's Variations tab. Shall I open another ticket or I can write it here?
