Tell us what you are trying to do?
translations are all OK, but page buttons are not in the translation list? So they remain in english for the german and italian pages

Is there any documentation that you are following?
I have attempted to find documentation, with no luck!

Is there a similar example that we can see?
A typical example is the "Download Data Sheet" button on page hidden link

What is the link to your site?

Hey there,

Have you tried to translate the buttons going to WPML > String Translation?

Please try to search the button's text in there. If you can't find it, please enable the option 'Look for strings while pages are loaded' in WPML > String Translation and then visit the page on the front end again: hidden link

Go back to the String Translation screen and uncheck the option above.

Now try to search again for the button text 'Download Data Sheet' once more and see if you'll be able to translate it now.

Thank you, please let us know how that goes.

Hey Mateus.
Thank you for the advice. I can understand how that feature would work, but alas, it didn't.
The page in question actually has four buttons and none of them appear in the String translation list and I have played around with it too. Any further thoughts on this would be gratefully appreciated.

Hello,

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.

Hey there,

I checked it and it seems like this issue might be caused due to a conflict with the child theme.

Given this is a staging site, and as a test, I temporarily switched the theme to the parent Divi.

Upon doing it and making a minor modification to the page (eg.: adding an empty space to the title so WPML sees that the translation also needs updating), I was able to see the button text in the translation editor.

I saved the translation and even in the frontend of the site the button shows as translated now.

Since this could be a conflict issue, the flow we have is to replicate the issue to a sandbox containing only WordPress and WPML plugins so we can proceed with investigation and isolate other factors.

Please login to the sandbox using the link sent in the private reply above.

Once you're in, please install your parent and child theme and replicate the issue with the button label so we can continue checking this issue.

Thank you, please let us know.

Hello there,

Thank you for creating another staging version for our tests only.

I was able to replicate the issue in the sandbox with a fresh install of WordPress.

I checked this out but so far I couldn't find a fix for it.

I asked my colleagues in the 2nd tier support to have a look at this issue in order to see if there's anything I'm missing.

I'll come back here as soon as one of my colleagues reply back to me (which it shouldn't take long).

Thanks,

Hello Craig,

Thank you for your patience while we investigated this issue.

I've consulted with our second-tier support team regarding the issues you're experiencing with those buttons translations on your site. After a thorough review, it has been identified that the root of the problem lies in the theme being used, specifically a fork or customized version of the Divi theme.

To address this issue effectively, our recommendation is to install a fresh copy of the original Divi theme, which can be obtained from the Divi account download page. This step is crucial because it appears that the current theme, including the child theme, has modifications or a structure that is not fully compatible with our translation tools. This incompatibility is likely what's preventing the buttons from being included in the translation tables.

I understand that making changes to the theme, especially when the project is nearing completion, might be concerning. However, this step is essential to ensure that all elements of your site, including the buttons, can be translated correctly without affecting the existing work. Once the original Divi theme is in place, we can then test to see if the issue with the button translations is resolved. During our tests this has proved to have fixed the issue.

If you encounter any difficulties or have further questions, feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Mateus
