Background of the issue:
I am trying to ensure that the featured image assigned to a post is visible in all translated versions of that post, not just in the original English version. Here is a link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link
Symptoms:
The featured image is only visible in the original language (English). In the translated versions, it either disappears or remains outdated, even after syncing the content. Additionally, when I enable the option 'Media (attachment)' as translatable in WPML settings, profile photos on user profiles disappear in any language other than English.
Questions:
How can I configure WPML to ensure that featured images are synced across all translations?
Why do profile photos disappear in languages other than English when 'Media (attachment)' is set as translatable?
Thanks for contacting us. I've checked your Website and I can see the missing featured images. Please try to run the media translation sync option in WPML > Settings > Media Translation > Click Start. Before you do that, make sure the option "Duplicate the featured images for translated content" is checked, as shown in the attached screenshot. Let me know how it goes.
I followed your suggestions, but the blog post remained unchanged. No Photo appears in other languages.
I have a test site. If you want, I can give you access.
Let me know.
I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Thanks for your reply. You need to allow translations for your medias as shown in the attached screenshot in WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation. Once you've done that, please try to run the media translation sync option in WPML > Settings > Media Translation > Click Start.
I did it AGAIN, but the blog post remained unchanged. No Photo appears in other languages.
Try it yourself, it's a test site. Don't worry.
Check Portuguese or Spanish, English is not affected.
IMPORTANT: When I enable the 'Media (attachment)' option as translatable in WPML settings, profile photos on user profiles disappear in all languages except English.
Thanks for your reply. I can see the broken images are pointing to hidden link . Could you backup and perform a search and replace to correct the image links?
Please check, now the featured images in English are all ok.
In other languages, some people work and others do not, specifically the Portuguese language is more affected.
Thanks for your reply. When I checked, I can see the images are pointing to Amazon AWS but were blocked, showing "Access Denied" as shown in this screen recording. Are you able to fix it? hidden link
The problem is that this image does not exist, WPML does not override it with a new image, and you receive an 'access denied' error because the link is incorrect.
The idea is that WPML should override with a new image that I posted in English posts.
As I mentioned, it's a test that allows you to enter posts and try to save them in other languages.
