Background of the issue:
I'm using WPML together with WPML Redirect Based on IP Country. The plugin will not work if we have caching plugins installed. WPML generates a lot of backend POST requests and due to the absence of any cache plugin, the backend performs slowly.

Symptoms:
The backend performs very slowly due to the absence of any cache plugin.

Questions:
How can I optimize the WPML plugin hits to improve backend performance?

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.

While you wait for my colleague to take over the ticket, let me try to help you with the issue quickly.

1)  In order to expedite handling your support requests, can you please share WPML support debug information from your site.

- To give debug information, login to your site and go to WPML → Support. From there click on the “debug information” link at the bottom of the page.
- Once on the “debug information” page, select the entire content of the text box and copy it.
- Now go back to our support forum, find debug information box and paste it.

More information on the link: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

2) Please install Query monitor plugin and share with us the results for the backend:

- currently, as you use your website
- when WPML is disabled
- when other plugins are disabled and using only WPML plugins

Please make sure to create a backup, before doing any actions or better test this on the staging site, just in case.

Regards,
Drazen

Hello,

Once you enable the plugin, you should see a colored area in the top bar that displays the queries currently being executed.

Additionally, we have some helpful documentation to guide you in the right direction: https://wpml.org/tutorials/2022/03/boosting-the-performance-of-your-multilingual-wordpress-site/.

Using caching plugins is crucial, especially for a site with a large number of languages like this one.

My colleague also shared a great list in this existing ticket: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-can-i-improve-performance-of-a-slow-site/#post-15350474.

When you have some time, please review those resources. They will definitely help improve the site's performance.

I hope that you will find all this information useful.
