[Escalated to WPML Developers team] I added the English language using the classic translation editor, while I added the German language...
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Our wait time is higher than usual, please make sure you are meeting the minimum requirement - https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements before you report issues, and if you can take a look at current Known Issues - https://wpml.org/known-issues/. Thank you.
Background of the issue:
I added the English language using the classic translation editor, while I added the German language using the automatic translation editor. My WPML settings are good. The site I need help with is hidden link.
Symptoms:
When I try to edit products in English, the automatic editor is immediately activated instead of the classic one, and in it I have no available translations - they are empty.
Questions:
Why is the automatic translation editor activated instead of the classic one when editing English products?
How can I access the translations in the classic editor for English products?
I've done it. I created a test product, added the EN translation to it using the classic editor, then added the DE translations using the advanced editor (automatically). And then I wanted to edit the EN translation, which was added using the classic editor - it turned on ATE, in which there were no previously added translations. And there should be such an option, in the settings I have the advanced translation editor checked and I do NOT have “Use also for old translations created in the classic editor” checked.
and I understand that currently if I would really like to translate this product that I edited with the classic editor I just have to edit it in ATE and paste the translations there?
Yes, that would be the only workaround now. But we can'T give any info on an ETA as this depends on many factors and is full decided by our devs.
Best Regards,
Marcel
