This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where the OTGS installer does not complete the installation of selected WPML plugins, displaying a loading circle indefinitely. This problem occurs even on new sites without any previous installations.
Solution:
1. Ensure that WPML is registered properly:
- Log in to your WPML.org account, go to the Sites page, and delete the existing site key.
- On your WordPress site, navigate to Dashboard >> Plugins >> Add new >> Commercial tab and click Unregister WPML from this site if available, then click Register WPML.
- Click Get a key for this site, copy the generated key, paste it back, and register.
- Attempt to download/install the WPML plugins again after taking a site backup.
2. If the issue persists on a new site:
- Deactivate all other plugins except for WPML and its add-ons.
- Switch to a default WordPress theme, such as Twenty Twenty-Five.
- Try installing the WPML plugins again from the Commercial tab.
- Reactivate other plugins one by one to identify any conflicts, particularly check for issues with the 'Git Updater' plugin.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider downgrading PHP to version 8.2 and check if that resolves the problem. If you continue to experience difficulties, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I've already installed the OTGS plugin and I'm trying to install and activate selected WPML plugins using the OTGS installer.

Symptoms:
A loading circle appears for 'Installing WPML Multilingual CMS' and it runs for half an hour without completing. This issue occurs on all my websites. When I download the plugins separately, it works, but I have to install them one by one. In the past, this process worked perfectly.

Questions:
Why is the OTGS installer not completing the installation of selected WPML plugins?
How can I resolve the issue of the loading circle running indefinitely during installation?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. This type of issue usually happens when the WPML is not registered properly on your site. To fix this issue, could you please delete the existing site key and create a new one by following below steps:

1. Login to your WPML.org account >> Go to the Sites page: https://wpml.org/account/sites/
2. Delete the existing site key by pressing the little trash icon.
3. Login to your WP site and go to the Dashboard >> Plugins >> Add new > Commercial tab and click the Unregister WPML from this site link if that link exists.
4. Then click the Register WPML link.
5. Click the Get a key for this site link (screenshot attached).
6. It will generate the Key for your site.
7. Copy the key, and paste it back into the input box, and press the Register button.
8. Then, please take a backup of your site and try to download/install the WPML plugins.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance with this issue.

Thank you

Hi Noman,

Thanks for your reply, however this is happening when the site is completely new, as in I do not have a register key.

I have not done any changes and am installing the OTGS plugin where it asks for the register key. I have created this first - as shown in screenshot. Then I go back to my site and click the packages I want to install. Once again (with a completely new setup) this did not work. The rotating 'loading' icon just keeps going and going, even after 30 minutes, as shown in second screenshot.

As the site is new, there is no registry key to delete. I create it for the first time, or are you saying to create the key, then delete the key and re-create it?

If it’s a new site and you’ve already registered it properly, then there’s no need to delete and recreate the site key.

To isolate the cause, could you please try the following steps:

1. Take a backup of your site first for safety reasons.
2. Deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
3. Switch to the default WP theme like 2025.
4. Try to install the WPML plugins again from Plugins >> Add New Plugin >> Commercial tab.
5. If the installation works, start reactivating the other plugins one by one to find which one might be causing a conflict.

Sometimes this issue can be caused by a JavaScript conflict or a server-related compatibility issue. If the problem persists, try downgrading PHP to 8.2 and see if that helps.

Kindly let me know the results,
Thank you

Hi Noman,

Thank you for your feedback. And patience.

I have followed these steps (one by one) and indeed, it was another plugin that was stopping the WPML from working. That plugin was 'Git Updater' by Andy Fragen. When I deactivate that, the WPML plugin works perfectly.

Again thank you.

Kind regards,
