Hello,

Could you please review and advise how to improve the speed of the WordPress admin area? It runs slower when your plugin is active.

Hi,

Welcome to WPML support. Here is general information that you can incorporate:

[ ] - Update WPML. That is the most important one. We have a lot of improvements during the updates, and it is not feasible or recommended to use older versions of WPML. Even if you used a custom solution, you need to consider updating and then reapply your solution.

Performance aside, there are usually security updates and stuff, so if you do not update, you will make your website vulnerable to possible security issues.

So this is the most important suggestion that I can give.

[ ] - Do not use any kind of SSL-helping plugins. They produce significant overhead by redirecting every request. To use https properly, just convert all links in the database using a safe search-replace plugin such as Better Search Replace or via WP-CLI.

[ ] - Consider using the plugin Index WP MySQL For Speed (https://wordpress.org/plugins/index-wp-mysql-for-speed/). WordPress table indexes are not optimised, and this plugin updates the table indexes to improve performance.

[ ] - Don't have debugging plugins like Query Monitor active in production, they add overhead. (Likewise make sure Xdebug is not active on your production server.) Review your list of plugins more generally to ensure you are only using plugins that are actually needed. (That includes WPML Media, which is only needed if you need to display different images when showing translated content; it is not needed to translate image texts such as captions.)

[ ] - Naturally, you page weight should be as low as possible, which means optimising assets such as JavaScript and CSS files, as well as compressing images.

More specifically, relating to WPML:

[ ] - Consider disabling "display as translated" (Fallback mode) from post types and taxonomies (in which case content will only be shown on secondary languages where translations exist; the resulting queries are much simpler).

[ ] - Try disabling the setting to "Adjust IDs for multilingual functionality" at WPML > Languages > Make themes work multilingual. Recommended themes should not need this setting. But you need to test and see if everything works ok if you deactivate this option.

[ ] - From the troubleshooting page (via WPML > Support) at wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms/menu/troubleshooting.php try the "Cleanup and optimize string tables" and "Clear invalid strings" options. It might also be helpful to "Remove ghost entries from WPML tables".

Thanks.

Can you log in and fix the issues with your plugin?
If there are any plugin conflicts, shouldn’t you be the ones to resolve them?
Why is it necessary to request additional developer work?

Hi,

It seems there is a misunderstanding. You asked about the recommendations on what to do to improve the performance and I provided the information that I could.

The most important one is the one I already mentioned, which is updating WPML.

We will not delve into any custom code you used that prevents you to update WPML.

That is a procedure that you need to do to make sure you have the latest version of WPML.

The other points are not development-related ones and are points that cn be easily done via WPML settings.

I am not sure what you mean by plugin conflict. From the conversation you had with the Au agent, you mentioned you have some customization and that is why you can not update WPML.

And the answer for that is that, we can not give support to older versions of WPML, I already gave points in the previous reply why that is, including the possible security updates. So you need to update WPML.

The standard way is this:

Thanks.

Hello,

Your colleague has already reviewed this code and provided suggestions on how to improve the store’s performance for customers. We have been working on this for half a year. Now the issue is the admin panel performance. In general, many users report that everything slows down after installing your plugins. The problem is that WooCommerce, Elementor, and WPML work slowly together.

Currently, most websites use Elementor, while WPML is used by a smaller portion, so these performance-related issues should be addressed on your side.

We have already performed updates multiple times, and they did not help. You also did not review the previous tickets, so at this point it is difficult to continue the discussion.

Hello,

I checked the previous tickets and found out that my colleagues already identified the issue as the TemplateMela Core plugin:

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/website-too-slow/

I'd be happy to check the admin slowness by checking the website with WPML and Elementor, but without TemplateMela Core plugin, as it is already identified as the problematic plugin.

Please get back to us with the copy/staging version of the website so we can do troubleshooting without the fear of breaking a live website, and we will check the website.

Please set the next reply as private to provide the login information.

Thanks.

Thank you. I will need some time to check this in an isolated environment and see the results.

Thanks.
