Background of the issue:
I am working on a site under development, hidden link, and my login is associated with this website account. I want to add an icon on the language switcher drop-down, specifically a globe icon from Font Awesome (f0ac - hidden link). I want our language switcher to look like the one on hidden link. I am following the documentation at https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/custom-language-switcher/. We are primarily visual designers and do not code.

Symptoms:
The site under development doesn't list our site hidden link.

Questions:
How can we add a globe icon from Font Awesome to the language switcher drop-down?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to WPML support. I’m here to help you out with this issue.

To create a custom language switcher like that, you’ll need to write some PHP code and add some CSS.

Another option is to add the globe icon as menu items and the wpml language switchers shortcodes as submenu items in Appereance->Menus. For this, you’ll need some plugins that allow us to use shortcodes in menu items.

Here’s a link to the documentation for the wpml coding API: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-coding-api/shortcodes/

We can't provide full php codes and CSS as it falls outside the scope of our support so, if you’d prefer, you can also contact one of our certified partners from this link: http://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-contractors/

Before you do that, take a look at this link: http://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-contractors/guidelines-for-people-looking-for-consulting-help/

I’m sure you’ll find the information you need to get started on your project.

Cheers!
