Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a file field in ACF which is part of a field group. The translation mode for the field group is selected to 'Same fields in all languages'. Enabling 'Expert' mode might make that field translatable, but I need to make sure if that does not create any trouble with existing translations.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
Will enabling 'Expert' mode create any trouble with existing translations?

In this case the file field is by default set to "Copy":

There should be no issue with using "Expert" mode and setting the field to "Translate", but it is important that any Repeater, Group, Clone, or Flexible Content fields remain on "Copy".

A better solution might be using WPML > Media Translation. This plugin allows uploading alternative media files for second languages, which should also work with ACF.

Note that after uploading alternative files for second languages at WPML > Media Translation, a dialog will show up that will allow you to scan all pages to replace the files accordingly.
