Background of the issue:
I switched to using the Advanced Translation Editor on a site that has been managed for years with the Classic Translation Editor. The site in question is hidden link. I have experience creating sites using the Advanced Translation Editor and thought I mastered it, but switching systems on an existing site might be more complex.

Symptoms:
Translations seem to be done in the backend yet do not appear in the FrontEnd. I did all the troubleshooting, including clearing caches, but the issue persists.

Questions:
Why are the updated translations not showing in the FrontEnd after switching to the Advanced Translation Editor?

Hello,

Somehow, the chat got disconnected, so I have converted it into a support ticket.

Please check the attached image. The translation of the page hidden link is displaying correctly on the frontend after clearing all caches: hidden link

So, please clear all types of caches on your side and check if the issue still exists.

If the problem remains, kindly share a screencast to help us understand the issue better. You can upload it via Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link here.

Thanks but it is not.
This translated content is the old translation, that pre-existed my attempt at switching to the Advanced system.

That is why don't understand how WMPL manages to keep both the old content for the secondary language (EN) for the FrontEnd yet the orignal (FR) is updated AND has been translated using the Advanced system.. but somehow that translation IS NOT what is being displayed

I already battled with this months ago and decided to revert to a backup and forget the switch to the Advanced...
No idea what to do but this is not fixed. Maybe I should just completely delete WPML and start over form a fresh single language state..

I was hoping to avoid that. A lot of pages to custom translate, thus a lot of copy/pasting a I cannot let automated translation take over (I wish).

I think things are not set up correctly.. why is the system asking me for the first translator available on things I have just translated.. I need the simplest set up possible. Only one translator and it is me.

Too many issues I need to understand myself, I prefer to not have anyone touch the site, I reverted to a previous backup, spent over 8 hours on this since last night to no avail.. I KNOW SOME SETUP IS MESSED UP AND I NEED TO FIX THAT FIRST !

In any case I now have this showing up in the Error Logs.. what is it about ??

Also where do I find the code that corresponds to the site being connected correctly to WPML, not taking about the registration but that other code I saw a few times, when I messed up creating clones of a site and WPML told me they would then use the same code. Which might also be an issue that messed things up here.

As you can see here I have two sites that are some 'joined at the hips' and I don't understand why.

How can one be ion 'TWO places' or using two.. whatever it is that is going on here.

I would not mind to have all three (same client) linked so at to use a SINGLE translation account and translation strings I guess ??? but I guess we want to make sure they all work separately before creating more of a mess.

This error

'2025/07/03 9:49:08 AM AMS Server Communication Active record record invalid: Validation failed: Email can't be blank'

might be dut to the fact I used a plugin to create an easy acces for you yesterday and it does not integrate an email address.

If I understand well ALL users or I guess ADMIN users need to have an accessible email address to appease the demonic WPML ?

Yet another issue, I thought I'd install OTGS thinking I might glean some info in there.. site refuses to activate the plugin: OTGS Installer.

I really need to get this settled soon, hence why I have all these questions. I've been procrastinating for several years to finally MAYBE use the Advanced Editor on all sites.

Concerning sharing Automatic Translations.. if I ever get there.. does one of the sites become the main one from which all are dependent ? So if one were to delete that 'main' site, would that then impact translations on the others orr do they all become 'equals' etc..

I tried to read all the info I could find but did not see anything that truly makes me understand how intertwined they would be.

Also can you connect sites that way at any stage ? What happens to contents that were translated slightly differently if one connects sites that already have all sort of content and translated content.

Automation is cool and super scary at the same time. It always feels like something's going to happen behind the scenes and then one day client calls you and asks why you edited all the texts.

I like to be in complete control and use automation ONLY as a starter help, before I correct the translations so as to make sure they truly reflect what was meant in the original language.

My preferred way would be even more granular... set things up (once the bugs or whatever I am facing now in terms of things not functioning as they should) so as to decide granularly for each content individually if I want to start with an automated translation or not. Automation as icing on the cake not the cake.
