Hello WPML Support Team,
I need your help with a performance issue related to WooCommerce + WPML.
Problem
The backend product management pages and product-related admin screens are loading very slowly. Opening the WooCommerce Products list or editing a product takes several seconds (sometimes 3–6 seconds or more).
On the frontend, category pages and filters are already somewhat optimized, but the backend processing is still slow, and it looks like WPML is heavily involved in SQL queries and database processing.
What has been done so far
1️⃣ WooCommerce side
Regenerated WooCommerce Product Lookup Tables
(wp wc palt regenerate)
Lookup table now works fine and is consistent
General WooCommerce cache tools executed (cleared transients, rebuilt lookup tables, etc.)
2️⃣ WPML
Cleaned WPML tables via WPML → Support → Troubleshooting
Clear WPML cache
Remove ghost entries
Fix post type and taxonomy relationships
Optimize string tables
Reduced translatable post types and taxonomies to only what is needed
Disabled auto string scanning
3️⃣ Hosting / Environment
Modern PHP version
Adequate memory limits and OPcache enabled
Good hosting performance overall
Plugins in use
WooCommerce (latest)
WPML Multilingual CMS + WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency
Annasta WooCommerce Filters
Standard WooCommerce extensions
No custom or experimental database plugins
What I need help with
Guidance on how to reduce the number of heavy SQL queries generated by WPML
Recommended WPML settings for WooCommerce performance optimization
Any known issues in recent WPML versions affecting WooCommerce backend speed
Whether WPML provides an indexing or caching approach to reduce backend delays
If helpful, I can provide:
Query Monitor screenshots
Debug info
Access details (if required)
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,

Hello there!

1) Could you please check your queries or let us know if we can check them for you? At the same time can you confirm we can check your files to look for the debug.log and see if we can find a clue there?

2) could you tell me if you tried disabling some extensions from WooCommerce and see if by any chance you noted any improvement? See sometimes the problem is the combination of plugins and that can tell us if we have to work with that or focus somewhere else.let us know so we can get things rolling.

Regards,

Hi!

Yes, feel free to check the queries and the debug.log file if needed. We confirm you can check the files to look for any potential clues.

We have already tried disabling several WooCommerce-related extensions, but unfortunately it didn’t make any significant improvement in performance. Let us know if there’s anything else we should look into together.

Thanks!

Hello,

I’ll continue assisting you with this issue. Since we’ve already gone through the basic troubleshooting steps, the next step is to investigate further.

To do this, I’d like to replicate your site on my local environment and perform deeper debugging. If necessary, I may also need these files to escalate the issue to our second-tier support team.

Please share a backup of your wp-content folder along with your database. You can zip the files and upload them to Google Drive, then share the link with me. This will allow me to set up a local copy of your site and examine the issue more closely.

I’ve enabled the private reply option for you.

Thank you
