[Resolved] ACF Options Page Repeater Field Image Not Saving (WPML & ACFML Configured)
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are experiencing an issue where images are not saving in a Repeater field on an ACF Options Page when using WPML and ACFML. Despite updates and troubleshooting steps like clearing cache and deactivating plugins, the problem persists. Solution: We recommend updating WPML and all related add-ons to the latest versions to ensure you have the latest bug fixes and improvements. You can update your plugins by visiting My Account → Downloads on the WPML site and following the instructions at https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/. Also, update your Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugins to the latest version. There is a known issue with ACF option pages where sub-fields may be overwritten, detailed at https://wpml.org/errata/advanced-custom-fields-sub-fields-are-overwritten-in-options-page/. Please ensure to back up your site fully, especially your database, before making any updates.
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it becomes outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum.

Background of the issue:
I am experiencing an issue with images not saving in a Repeater field (map_kvimages07) on an ACF Options Page (ELECTORONICKSKV) using WPML and ACFML. The issue is specific to the ACF Options Page, while the same field group works correctly on a standard WordPress page. My WordPress Address (URL) is hidden link, and the Site Address (URL) is hidden link. I have confirmed that WPML Multilingual CMS (v4.6.3), WPML String Translation (v3.2.5), Advanced Custom Fields PRO (v6.1.6), and Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual (v2.0.5) are installed. Updates for WPML Multilingual CMS (to v4.6.4) and Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual (to v2.1.5) are available. The repeater field map_kvimages07 and its sub-fields are set to 'Copy' in both ACF and WPML settings. I have cleared WPML cache, deactivated almost all other plugins, and checked for JavaScript errors and network issues, but the problem persists.
Symptoms:
Images added to a Repeater field on an ACF Options Page disappear after clicking 'Update', despite a '200 OK' status being returned.
Questions:
Could you please provide further guidance on how to resolve this issue?
Is updating WPML Multilingual CMS and Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual recommended before further troubleshooting?
Please update WPML and all related add-ons to the latest version (currently 4.7.6) to ensure you have the latest bug fixes and improvements. While this may not immediately resolve your issue, working with the most recent versions allows us to troubleshoot effectively.
You can find the latest plugin versions under My Account → Downloads on our website. Instructions for updating are available here: https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/
If updates don’t appear, go to Plugins → Add New → Commercial tab and click “Check for updates.”
Please also ensure your Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugins are updated to the latest version. I noticed that the ACF plugin is outdated.
As instructed, I have updated WPML and all related add-ons (including ACF) to the latest versions.
However, after the update, I am unable to access the WordPress admin dashboard (wp-admin) – I consistently receive a 504 Gateway Timeout error.
Already tried:
Increased WP_MEMORY_LIMIT to 256M in wp-config.php
Set PHP memory_limit = 1024M in server configuration
Updated plugins via FTP and confirmed database integrity
Even after these changes, the issue persists only when WPML is active. When I deactivate WPML, the admin panel becomes accessible again.
We suspect that WPML is exhausting available PHP memory, especially in our shared hosting environment.
Additional info:
After checking debug.log, we confirmed the issue is caused by PHP memory exhaustion errors.
We are currently using a shared server (Xserver in Japan), and we cannot downgrade WordPress or remove other essential plugins like ACF or WOVN.
Could you please advise on the following?
Are there any known memory issues with WPML 4.7.6 and the latest ACF?
Are there recommended settings or guidelines for minimizing WPML’s memory usage?
Can WPML function reliably in a shared hosting environment?
Thank you for your feedback and the detailed information.
Are there any known memory issues with WPML 4.7.6 and the latest ACF?
We haven’t encountered specific memory issues related to WPML 4.7.6 and the latest version of ACF. Our development team works continuously to ensure compatibility with popular plugins like ACF. You can always check for any known compatibility issues on this page: WPML Known Issues.
Are there recommended settings or guidelines for minimizing WPML’s memory usage?
There are no specific WPML settings designed to minimize memory usage. However, our developers follow best practices to maintain optimal performance. Keeping your site lean—with only necessary plugins and a well-coded theme—will help ensure WPML runs efficiently.
Can WPML function reliably in a shared hosting environment?
Yes, WPML can function on shared hosting, but memory limits depend on the overall server resources. Shared hosting typically has limited resources, which may impact performance when running resource-intensive plugins. WPML, along with other plugins, contributes to the overall memory load, so ensuring your site is optimized is essential for stability.
