This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is building a real estate site using the MyHome theme and has encountered an issue when implementing a secondary language. The problem arises with custom fields from taxonomy that are related to properties. When duplicating a property to a secondary language and then publishing the post without filling in all fields in the default language, the fields get overridden or duplicated, causing a mess on the site.

Solution:
We recommend the following steps to avoid the issue:
1. Create a property in the default language.
2. Attach all necessary fields from taxonomies to the property.
3. Duplicate the post for the secondary language.
4. Ensure all fields are filled in on the default language post before duplicating.
5. Do not click "Publish" on the default language post if you have not completed the secondary language fields.
6. If you update the original post after duplicating, it should sync the changes to the secondary language.

It is important to follow the correct workflow to prevent issues. If you are referring to displaying untranslated content in secondary languages, please review our documentation here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content.

Additionally, be aware that the count in taxonomy will only match if both languages have an equal number of properties.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you continue to experience difficulties, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket with us.

building real estate site with myhome theme and implementing secondary language found acfml bug with custom fields from taxonomy related that have multiple other fields related to property. When i was filling content for client with properties weird things happened and i had mess on site with fields when duplicating language and than clicking publishing post on actual language like i forgot something on first language before going to secondary language.

what i did and what will happen if i give this to client i am sure he will have the same issues because this is user case that can happen and cause mixed content across language and detached taxonomy custom fields or similar that is prepared before:
1. I am creating property on default language Croatian , than i attach fields into this posts from taxonomies that have, like contents, locations, type of properties, permissions. when i finish i duplicate this post for fields to copy on secondary language. And sometimes happened that i forgot some field than i stay on this language and click publish post , and after that fields that are attached to property are created again and ovverriden.

In image attached with this case i am sure you will se what is happening in this user case. i only want all the same fields on secondary language attached to property but translated, which i did and connected this fields in taxonomies of properties. Not mixing and than again translating new connections and duplicating same fields that are already prepared only need to be shown not overriden

Everything works fine when i after first duplicating post dont click publish on current language, than going immediatly editing secondary language but with this user case something was wrong with fields that are ovverriden, mixed and detached. User will have trouble and headache what if he click publish after duplicating post if he think: o i miss something on current screen... he will not know that what will happen than only option is to find backup form last day or something... please help.. tried everything copy, or copy once , translate and allsettings this is happening again and again

provided you debug information for development site, but it also happened on live site where the acf pro plugin is latest version and everything is updated to latest...

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

If I got this right, here's a simplified version of the steps to reproduce the issue?

1. Create a property in the default language.
2. Attach fields from taxonomies to the property.
3. Duplicate the post for the secondary language.
4. Forget to fill in some fields on the secondary language post.
5. Click "Publish" on the default language post before completing the secondary language fields.
6. Notice that fields may be overridden or duplicated on the secondary language post.

Questions:

- does it mean that the original is draft first and not published?
- you are reffering to https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content?

Because if so, you can't "forget" anything in the translated language because whatever you modify there should be synced with the original so making modifications there will yield no results, especially after you update the original which should sync the changes again.

It sounds like improper workflow, but can you record a video using tool such as hidden link to show how you do it?

4. Forget to fill in some fields on the default language and stayed on default language and click publish . **** you are thinking the same i think but take a look at video:

Here is video... on we transfer compressed yor you and easy, fast to download :

hidden link

please take a look and see what happened, maybe it is not a bug but it is user case, that happened few times and caused a lot of work , delete property and than connecting translation of taxonomies again, or just find backup of db and start from scratch creating property. It something like bad experiance, if I who know what i am doing accidently did this few times i think client will too do this and will have mess if he dont see what he done. It will give him a sort of headache.

Observations from your video:

- When attempting to update a duplicate, you'll encounter a notification indicating that its content will no longer synchronize with the original.
- The count in taxonomy will only match if both languages have an equal number of properties, which isn't always the case.

Does this help?
