This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing 404 errors when clicking on author or category links on their website. The URLs showed a duplicated language code (e.g., /enen/ instead of /en/), leading to a 'page not found' error.
Solution:
The issue was resolved by removing an additional trailing slash "/" from the home URL in the options database table.

If this solution does not seem relevant to your situation, please open a new support ticket with us.

I have started creating posts; and assigned them into some categories.
When clicking author or category link, the link brings the 404 page not found error. Looking at the URL, I can see that the language code is doubled as in (/enen/ instead of /en/)
hidden link
or
hidden link

Link to a page where the issue can be seen as above.

I expected to see:
hidden link
Instead, I got:
hidden link and it shows page not found.

Hi there,
Thanks for contacting WPML support.

I see there is a 301 redirect from the correct URL (hidden link)

WPML doesn't add 301 redirects, so please check if any similar redirects are created in the SEO plugin's settings or the .htaccess file.

If you can't find any redirect, please create a full backup then try the following steps:

1. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks, and resave the permalink settings without making any changes.
2. Clear all the cache memory including the server-side cache if enabled
3. Go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting page, then click the following:
- Clear the Cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables

Let me know please if that helps.

Kind regards,
Mohamed

Hello Mohamed,
Thank you very much for prompt assistance.

I have tried the steps you have recommended, but I have been unsuccessful resolving the issue. With further searching; I have isolated the problem on "/" set at the end of home URL. I removed the "/" from the end of home URL in options database table and the issue has been solved.

Many thanks once again.

Best Regards,
