This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is attempting to switch from automatic to manual translation using WPML on their site and is encountering issues where changes made in the Welsh content using the Advanced Translation Editor are not taking effect unless the site cache is purged. They are considering using the Classic Translation Editor as they do on another site, where they manually translate content after creating the English version.

Solution:
We advised the client that even if the translations were initially done automatically, they could still manually edit them. To switch from the Advanced Translation Editor to the Classic Translation Editor, they should navigate to WPML -> Settings -> Translation Editor. However, it's crucial to make a full site backup before making this change. We also clarified that manually adding translations in the Advanced Translation Editor is possible by rejecting the automatic translation and starting from scratch. If changes are not reflected on the frontend, this might be due to caching issues, which could persist regardless of the editor used. If the client decides to revert to automatic translations, they can toggle the setting in the Advanced Translation Editor.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. If these steps do not resolve your issue, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.

Hi,

If you select 'No - don't translate automatically' in the pop-up window, it will stop suggesting automatic translation in the Advanced Translation Editor. The next time you translate something in the Advanced Translation Editor, the right side (the translation side) will be empty.

Regards,
Itamar.

OK thanks.

And to turn this back on i just toggle the main Automatic Translation option again?

My client is asking to test this option so they can look at manually adding Welsh, like they do on another site.

Thanks for your help with this.

Cheers
Jon

Hi, Jon.

You can change it back in the Advanced Translation Editor settings. You need to click the gear icon in the top-right corner. Then a pop-up window will appear. You can toggle the 'Translate all content automatically when the editor opens'. Please see the attached screenshot.

Regards,
Itamar.
