This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is using the Avada theme and has a separate French menu from the English one on their site. The main French menu is not displaying correctly, showing only the last tab while the submenus remain visible.
Solution:
1. We recommended checking the menu settings in WordPress under WP > Appearance > Menu to ensure the correct menu is selected for the French version.
2. It's important to link the primary language "main menu" to its translated version as shown in the provided screenshot. This step is crucial for the menus to display correctly across different languages.
3. If issues persist, it might be due to synchronization problems which can occur if other methods of menu translation are used. We suggest reviewing the methods listed on Translating Menus to ensure proper setup.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I left out a step. Please select the primary language "main menu" here, as shown in the attached screenshot, to link them together.

Thank you so much Kor that makes sense. It now works but I would like to better understand why I now have to make that step to link them. The menu did work for a very long time without linking them, so why did that change? Would that have been in a WPML update?

Secondly I still need to resolve the new plugin from WPML that breaks my site when I activate it. Should I do that on a new ticket or continue with you?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not exactly sure why the menu became unlinked, but it’s likely due to using one of the other methods listed here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/, which may have caused the sync to fail.

Regarding the new issue where "WPML is breaking your Website", I’ve created a separate ticket here https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-breaks-my-site-when-i-activate-it/ so we can follow up on that properly.

If the menu issue is already resolved, feel free to mark this ticket as resolved.
