This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to use the automatic translator in WPML on your site, but encounter an issue where the 'Translation Management' page indicates 'Connecting to internet...' followed by a message stating that WPML needs an Internet connection and it seems that your server is not allowing external connections or your network is temporarily down, despite having whitelisted the specified domains.
Solution:
We recommend that you first try to disable all plugins except for WPML temporarily to see if this resolves the issue. This step helps in identifying if any other plugin is causing a conflict that prevents WPML from connecting to the internet. Additionally, we have enabled debug information for this support ticket. Please follow the instructions on how to retrieve this information from your site and provide it to us by visiting http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket or visit our support forum at https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/.

Background of the issue:
I'm trying to translate some pages with automatic translator on my site hidden link using WPML. When I go to the 'Translation Management' page, I encounter an issue.

Symptoms:
The page title says 'Connecting to internet...' and then it says 'WPML needs an Internet connection to translate your site’s content. It seems that your server is not allowing external connections, or your network is temporarily down.'
I have previously already added the specified domains to the whitelist.

Questions:
Why is WPML unable to connect to the internet on my site?
How can I resolve the issue of WPML not connecting to the internet?

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

It looks like something is blocking WPML requests. Have you tried to disable all the plugins except WPML temporarily?
