This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You have a list of posts created in English and translated to Spanish and Portuguese. After making changes in English, you are unable to enter the translator editor for the other languages. Instead, it opens the regular post editor with a warning that the translation is in process.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend switching to the WPML Translation Editor to translate the post again. If you are using ACF field group mode "Different fields across languages", you will need to edit the field group, change the mode to "Same fields across languages", and then switch to the WPML Translation Editor. For more detailed guidance, please refer to our documentation:

Background of the issue:
I have a list of posts created in English and translated to Spanish and Portuguese. One particular post is already translated to both languages but when I make a change in English, I can't enter the translator editor for either other language.

Symptoms:
It just opens the regular post editor in the language which I'm trying to update the content for with a warning on the top of the page that reads 'You are trying to edit a translation that is currently in process of being added using WPML.' This has been like this for several hours and it happens randomly in some posts.

Questions:
Why can't I enter the translator editor for the other languages after making a change in English?
What does the warning 'You are trying to edit a translation that is currently in process of being added using WPML' mean?
Why does this issue happen randomly in some posts?
How can I resolve this issue and access the translator editor?

Hi Fernando,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.

It looks like you are using the WordPress editor in the language box. When clicking on the translation icon, it will open the editing page. If you want to open the translation editor, please switch to WPML Translation Editor and translate the post again.

If you are using ACF field group mode "Different fields across languages", you won't be able to switch to WPML Translation Editor. You need to edit the field group, change the mode to "Same fields across languages" and switch to WPML Translation Editor.
