I am trying to:
Modify the order of ACF flexible content of the default language (English) version of a page
Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link hidden link
I expected to see:
Content for the translated versions of the page should not change
Instead, I got:
Some ACF fields in the translations lose their values and as a result two of the columns in the "Ceci peut également vous intéresser" module are lost
We’ve encountered an issue where changing ACF flexible content fields in the original language has unexpected consequences in all the translated versions of pages.
There seem to be many things which trigger this but in this case I've moved the embedded video above the "Fair facts & figures" three column module in the English page and the result is that all other translations of the "You may also be interested in:" three column module lose values for some of their fields.
We’re using wpml_cf_preferences values of 2 (translate) for text fields and 3 (copy once) for all other fields like clones, images and selects etc. We’d expect that making changes which don’t involve text fields on the original page should not have any effect on the translated pages.
Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.
According to the debug log, I see you are using the Advanced Translation Editor to translate the content on your site. So I suggest you change the translation preference of the Flexible Content field to "Copy" (wpml_cf_preferences = 1) and other fields, except the Text field.
If you use "Copy Once", then you should use the WordPress editor to add the field manually when editing the translation page.
We initially used the Advanced Translation Editor to translate the content, but after the initial translation we now make all edits to existing pages manually (we also translate new pages manually).
We want to avoid the situation where making a change to the English page affects the translated pages. Is it correct that we are using "Copy Once" in this situation?
Yes, if you are using the WordPress editor to translate the page manually, you can use the preference "Copy Once" or "Translate" for all fields.
If the issue persists, please try to replicate the issue on a clean installation of WordPress. You can access the admin area directly with this link hidden link
Kindly follow the steps below:
- Don’t restore your site there.
- Install ACF (Pro) plugin.
- Try to replicate the issue with minimal steps.
- Then let me know the steps to replicate it.
Look forward to your reply.
Thanks
